Still reading back. Don't you feel guilty about wanting to buy the things you want for your little baby. It's your baby after all. Do you think grandparents will be restrained over the coming years at birthdays and christmas etc etc. Think of all the things they'll but without asking you. Mums and Dads are allowed to spoil their children too ..... :D

Oh I don't know, OH's mum comes from an old fashioned family (her parents were farmers) and is all "don't spend too much" at every opportunity. Even Christmas/Birthdays etc my OH and his siblings have never got a lot (not that it's necessarily a bad thing, just how it is) so I can't see her going over board at all.

She wanted to buy a 2nd hand car seat for her car, and one of the bigger ones too, and I out right refused to consider putting my child in it. I want rear facing until he is 24 months old.

I sound like such a spoilt brat :o

How do you know if it's head is engaging?

Money saving Momma was talking about it the other night, and I'd replied saying I don't feel anydifferent, only heavier and more tired.... and my hips grind slightly anyway!

WW- no sign of Little Nice! I texted him this morning as I think today was her actual due date....

i think baby's head has engaged as i have had loads of pain down there like period pains and i waddle like a duck when i walk now and i cant do anything about it. Walking normally is impossible. I will ask midwife friday if it is engaged

It drives me mad when people say 'ohh you shouldn't buy that, you'll never need it!' or 'don't go mad buying clothes!' I always think to myself its my bloody money and my first baby and I'll buy whatever I want to! I don't say that, I just nod my head and rant to my poor hubby!!

Having a baby is so exciting and buying baby stuff is exciting and its not nice when people put a downer on it!

Drives me nuts too, especially when it's people who's youngest child is nearing teens or adulthood.

I have friends who have young children/babies I'd be more likely to take on board what they have to say if they said they'd bought something and had never used it or it wasn't very good.

What annoys me more is "oh someone will buy you that" and when I ask who, they don't know, and as I said how do people even know what we want or need?!? They don't I'd rather buy these things for myself and get the items we both like and agree on.

I'm fuming now thinking about it :o

sorry for not posting sooner, but i just wanted to let you know our little baby boy was born 14th Nov weighing 7lb5. Everything is going really well, he's taken to bfing really well, although he feeds every 2-2.5 hours, so no sleep for me!! Have never been so tired or busy in my whole life. He's so very worth it. Will try and catch up soon when i actually get a spare min.

    Hi Ladies,

    Hope all are well!

Can I just ask if you are planning on breastfeeding are you buying a steriliser and bottles as well? I spoke to my Mum who has always breastfed and she said there was no point in the early days as using bottles can confuse a baby that is being breastfed! This is the only thing I need to get sorted now! Also dummies - yes or no? I haven't bought any as again I have been told they can hinder breastfeeding!

I have been into town today and bought lots of micro baby nappies (they are so small!) and some tiny baby clothes!

Also got my hospital bag sorted for next Friday and I'm going to pack my baby bag tonight!

Last night I had a really weird feeling inside, it was like a popping feeling, but no noise and I honestly thought my waters were going to break! It wasn't uncomfortable, just a strange feeling! Baby has been moving loads today so nothing to worry about!!

... re the breastfeeding, I have the freebie advent bottle from boots and pampers & bought a couple of bigger bottles, I have bought some sterilising liquid and a second hand breast pump. I plan on breastfeeding but think I may need a back up & may want to express.
Agree that you may need to express so might be worth asking mw what is best to do or perhaps someone with experience of having bubs at 30wks knows more etc

    Ro xx

Yep it gets right on my wick as well! A friend who has a 16 year old daughter told me I was wasting my money when I bought a bouncy chair and an activity mat for the floor! Personally I think I will use them quite a bit.
My SIL asked what we needed that she could buy, I said a baby bath. She said that it was a complete waste of money and she would buy a support chair for the baby to use in the main bath! My bathroom is quite big and drafty and I plan to bath baby in the living room for the first few monthsr with the fire on to keep warm!
