How do you know if it's head is engaging?
Money saving Momma was talking about it the other night, and I'd replied saying I don't feel anydifferent, only heavier and more tired.... and my hips grind slightly anyway!
WW- no sign of Little Nice! I texted him this morning as I think today was her actual due date....0 -
Hi Ladies,
Hope all are well!
Can I just ask if you are planning on breastfeeding are you buying a steriliser and bottles as well? I spoke to my Mum who has always breastfed and she said there was no point in the early days as using bottles can confuse a baby that is being breastfed! This is the only thing I need to get sorted now! Also dummies - yes or no? I haven't bought any as again I have been told they can hinder breastfeeding!
I have been into town today and bought lots of micro baby nappies (they are so small!) and some tiny baby clothes!
Also got my hospital bag sorted for next Friday and I'm going to pack my baby bag tonight!
Last night I had a really weird feeling inside, it was like a popping feeling, but no noise and I honestly thought my waters were going to break! It wasn't uncomfortable, just a strange feeling! Baby has been moving loads today so nothing to worry about!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Jannine..have they given you any indication of how big bubs is at the mo? We tried to use the pampers micro but they were too big(DD was only 728grams so about 1lb 9oz) but you can order the next size down directly from pampers.Shout if you need the link.
Have they spoken to you about how feeding etc will be to start with till baby grows a bit bigger?

I've bought a steriliser and bottles, but I am planning on breast feeding. Breast pumps etc all need to be sterilised anyway. With your baby maybe being in NICU they may ask you to express and feed him/her that way, if you're keen on breast feeding that is.
We've bought a couple of packs of dummies, but whether we use them or not we'l see, you can buy little teeny tiny ones though if you're thinking of going down that road, they say if baby is breast fed it's best to not use them for a few weeks at least. The frontier is never somewhere else. ... (this is my first) but have felt what someone else described like you have a bowling ball down there and make it a heavy one!! my hips also felt like they were pressured sort of further apart than normal, have also had the odd battering ram on the foof and it aint a foot :rotfl::rotfl:also had the penguin waddle.. but that has eased think my body is getting used to him being in that position. Also when sitting on the couch its more uncomfortable feels like a big pressure down there again am getting more used to it. I also seem to get movement around my tummy button presumably feet.

Going to give BF a bash and will be buying Tommee Tippee starter set. As Gilly said, the breast pump will need sterilising anyway.
I got a pair of free Avent dummies at the baby show. Tbh if this baby is anything like my son,she will prefer her thumb, which is a bit more convenient lol but a pain when its *too* convienient and you're trying to wean them of thumb sucking lol. It is very cute tho:D:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

Yes baby will be 30 weeks if delivery happens as planned. I was told baby weighed around 755g at my last growth scan, this was over a week ago now. They only do growth scans every fortnight here so I'm due another this Thursday. Going on previous scans and weights, baby seems to be putting on around 220g per week, so this week I'm hoping baby weighs at least 950g. Obviously its not that accurate but its all I have to go on. I didn't know you could get smaller nappies than the micro baby ones!
We haven't really discussed feeding, that will be happening at this Thursdays appointment. I am hoping to express if I can't breastfeed (can you even breastfeed such prem babies?) They have facilities at the hospital for expressing, so the first few weeks I will express at the hospital.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Just back from town with Step mum. Our swinging crib is now ordered from John Lewis. Mattress needs to be bought separately, but JL only do one crib mattress, which felt a bit thin and foamy. Anyone know if that is right for a crib? Am i wrong in assuming that if pocket sprung are best for cotbeds, they would be best for cribs too?
Also bought a lovely changing mat, and a totally-unncessary-but-couldnt-help-it red christmas star pram blanket that is sooooooo soft!
Not sure what the cause was, but had a totally new and v painful pain whilst out. Not sure what the cause was. It was constant, not in waves, and a cross between a stitch, a pubic hair being pulled, and a pulled muscle. Really low down, and almost felt like it was on the outside- didnt feel like a cervix pain when bean headbutts me. Much sharper. Whenever i sat down it stopped, and then restarted once i'd been standing for 5 minutes or so.
Really odd. Might mention it to the M/W when i see her tomorrow. Maybe bean is trying to engage..
Janinne- yes i am planning to B/F, but knowing i'll be going back to work after 6 months, and DH also wants to join in the feeds ( i'm gonna offer the 11pm/2am cluster/dream feed slot to him, ha ha ha) , i'm hoping to try expressing as well. As such i've bought a Medela Swing (new), a variety of bottles (new), the philips avent elecric steriliser (ebay for £4! instead of £40!) and some freezable expressed milk bags. If it turns out that i cant B/F then i'm set up for bottle feeding, and i'll sell the other stuff.
Oh, and on dummies. I've just got one twin pack. The reading i've done suggests they are useful while the baby learns to self soothe when you try and get them to sleep, so i'm planning to see how we get on, and if we have a fussy baby, who doesnt sleep well, then we'll have a try giving the dummy only at sleep times till they drop off, and then taking it away once it falls out naturally. Once they can control their hands and fingers, then the dummy is a bit redundant, as they can suck their own fingers if they want.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Had a bit of a crappy day
went out with OHs mum and everything I looked at was a waste of money or 'too' much. I want a sturdy cotbed that will last but I should just get the cheapest rathe than one I actually like. It's not like I'm being unreasonable, £200 is a good price I'd say. Feel like crap now, like a materialistic cow.
Still reading back. Don't you feel guilty about wanting to buy the things you want for your little baby. It's your baby after all. Do you think grandparents will be restrained over the coming years at birthdays and christmas etc etc. Think of all the things they'll but without asking you. Mums and Dads are allowed to spoil their children too .....TTC #3..........0 -
I think you may have difficulty breast feeding such a small baby, but I'm not 100% on that, Bump or Love Crafting will probably be able to tell you more. I think you will be able to express though, and feed them that way. Best of luck when the time comes Jannine, I know we'l all be thinking of you! xxThe frontier is never somewhere else.
