Calcium- the obvious really, helps repair bones and tissues and restores your depleted calcium levels.

EPO- helps soften the cervix and make it more flexible and stretchy and less likely to tear. (Vitamin E does the same)

RLT- helps tone the cervix so that your contractions are more effective

Arnica- Helps reduce swelling and shock to tissue and speeds healing..

As above the EPO helps with tearing, as does Vit E, but massaging the perineal area with any plain massage oil is supposed to do the same thing as well.

As for the ball, just sitting on it instead of a chair or sofa, helps position your pelvis into a good angle, so that the baby can get into a good position, and move downwards when the time comes. Rotating your hips in a circular motion whilst sitting on it helps encourage the baby downwards. Also helpful when you go into labour, as you can use it to get into comfy positions leaning on it.

    HI

I'm after some advice, and sorry if this is a blonde question.
But just been reading over the supplement list:

    Calcium
    32wks onwards: 1000mg per day
    At onset of Labour: 1000mg

    Evening Primrose Oil (EPO)
    34-37wks: 1-2 500mg capsule
    38-40wks: 34 500mg capsule
Insert 1 capsule each night during week 38

    Raspberry Leaf Tea (RLT)
32-34wks: 1 cup (or 1 tablet) per day
34-36wks: 2 cups (or 2 tablets) per day
36-38wks: 3 cups (or 3 tablets) per day
38-40wks: 4 cups (or 4 tablets) per day

    Arnica Tablets
    3 days before: 2 30c tablets 3 times a day
Onset of Labour: 2 30c tablets every 2 hours (upto 6 doses)
After Labour (upto 5 days after): 2 30c tablets 3 times a day

What are each of those for?

And i've also heard of a cream you can apply to help prevent tearing  does anyone know what that is.

AND - my friend has given me her birthing ball - what should i be doing with it?? I'm not going to NCT, but realise I should be using it for something???

    thanks! :o

Ps. have a look at this for birth ball things. There are more links to positions using it for labour.http://pregnancy.about.com/od/laborbirth/a/birthball.-KGM.htm

Evening. Seeing as you're all talking sweeties lol, tescos have buy 1 get 2 free on selection boxes:T I know where I'm going at the weekend:o

Talking of sterilisers,I'm going to attempt bf,I will still stock up on bottles to maybe express, plus obviously the steriliser. I am thinking of getting the tommy tippee starter set,but I also have a couple of freebie avent bottles. Can I use the TT steriliser with these? Thanks x

Lucy from what I gather they'l be fine, Tommee Tippee are a lot chunkier than Avent bottles so I can't see they're being an issue with them fitting in. I can recommend the starter kit, (well from what I've seen of it, not got to use it yet :o )

Well just took to shaving, was there for ages, and blindly going for it, I've given up now, I dropped the razor twice and it was even more of an ordeal to try and bend down to pick it up. Dignity is truly out the window.
