    hey all ,

Been to the consultant complete waste of time feel so annoyed and frustrated!

I am 35 weeks my bump is measuring 38!!!!! i asked about inducing but they wont induce early. "If baby is going to get stuck we would rather she got stuck naturally!" oh how reassuring. Suger ++ in my urine sample again so i have to have another GTT which means fasting feeling like poo for days and being all washed out. I asked what happens if the GTT results show something. "Oh at this stage we would just monitor it's a bit late to DO anything about it"

So why am i bothering with the test? Then she accused me of having a sweet tooth actually i am eating hardly anything all because i get really bad heartburn and acid reflux!!

What a bl**dy waste of time
That sounds very frustrating. I'm sure you already know this but you can decline the GTT if you want to. (Just saying because this never occurred to me in my first pregnancy even though the only reason I could extract from them for a second GTT was "it's trust policy".)

At least I can plan ahead now and sort things out, my hubby works away so at least he can make sure he will be here, I can get my 3 dogs looked after and sort all the practical things out. I'm not scared about the c-section, just about the baby being OK. At least they will have Doctors on hand in case of emergencies and I know my local hospital has a very good special baby care ward. I'm wondering if any other ladies have delivered at 30 weeks and how long their babies were in the hospital for, I'm going to assume at least a month, but probably even longer.

Heya hun.My middle DD was born just under 27 weeks so I know how scary it is.Here iof you need to chat.Hugs xx
Slightly mad mummy to four kidlets aged 4 months,6,7 and 8 :D:D:D xx
  • Janninew - lots of hugs - I think everyone gets worried. I'm scared of my baby coming early, unplanned, me being alone and me freaking out. Try to take comfort in the fact that you know what is going to happen and that they are preparing the baby in advance for the best possible way. Your OH will get to be there too :) The most important part is that you will get to meet your baby!
    More hugs!

My cousin was born at 34 weeks (spontanious labour so no time for steroids or anything) spent 2 days in hospital with mum before being discharged. No need for special care or anything.

Her sister was then born a year later at 35 weeks, but this time they prepared for an early labour and gave steroids from 32 weeks. Again, no need for special care.

Both are healthy happy children and suffered no adverse effects from being born early.

Try not to worry about being born at 30 weeks, it must be very scary for you, but they are giving baby the steroids to prepare it for life outside and they obviously think its safer to be out. Hopefully any stay in hospital will be reduced because of the advance planning for delivery now.

Morning ladies, I hope the lack of posts over night means that our resident insomniacs have had a better night's sleep!!

Jannine, fingers crossed all goes well for you, as the others have said, the docs know what they're doing and its much better to have it all planned than end up in an emergency situation. I guess you'll be dashing out buying tiny baby clothes now.....sooo cute!!

JenJade, I reckon if I were in your position I'd be refusing that GTT!! Fancy wanting to do one but openly admitting they won't even do anything if the result is positive!! I'd see it that if they're not going to do anything then theres absolutely no point going through the hassle and stress of having it done!!

Oh dear haha, oh well my OH hates me eating them as they stink, so he'l be over the moon :o

Gilly, you need to get yourself this book:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Takeaway-Secret-Cook-Favourite-Fast-food/dp/0716022354/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321514489&sr=8-1

It has a donner kebab recipe in it that is to die for and is much healthier than the kebab shop ones but tastes just as good! Theres also recipes for 'red and white' sauces that are like the chilli and garlic sauces from the kebab shop. It also has loads of other good recipes but the donner kebab is a real favourite in our house. i could eat one now actually which is a bit weird at this time of the morning!!

Oh and if you have 'The Works' bookshop over there they had it in recently for £1.99!

I have worked out I have 75 days left at work not including today! Thats assuming I take all my holidays which I'm sure I will! It doesn't sound too bad that! i have a little piece of paper on my desk that I'm going to use to do a countdown!!

This weekend I'm hoping to get some more maternity clothes. i've managed to stay in my 'normal' work clothes so far but that isn't going to last much longer! I'll also need a bigger coat soon. i saw a lovely one on Dorothy perkins website (they have 30% off everything online at the minute) but when I went back later to order it it had sold out :(

    :) Morning All

Jannine - echo what the other ladies say, you are doing your best for your LO, but yes its worrying but also exciting to think you will get mummy cuddles soon xx

jenjade - sorry you were upset yesterday, think they were a bit insensitive, I hope that your mw reassures you, maybe worth asking about diet tips that might help with your sugar levels, hope your mw or gp help you a bit betterxx

Been to see gp yesterday 31 wks  she thinks he is head down  am finding pressure down there, some navel area kicks, a bit of cracking  from spine when get up in night now so maybe she is right deffo got a penguin waddle.. lets hope he stays that way but is more uncomfortable. she measured 35cm then changed he mind to 32cm, difficult with extra padding to measure..
Caused a fuss in pharmacy as was prescribed 2 creams for a rash but pharmarcist did not think one was good in pregnancy following his advice to just use one of them but one woman according to hubby was getting impatient in the queue :o he wanted to tell her to shut up :rotfl:

Got preparation anxiety brought moses bedding, clothes, blankets from mums and started washing yesterday, have also brought back some other bits. Decided to do an online antenatal course (just watch videos)as well as dont think husband or mother going to be up to much!, originally mother all enthusiastic but now she is playing a supporting role so think that might as well, it was the one that was offered in a flash sale via a bounty email.

Lisa - sounds good, but if I even thought about cooking anything like that in the house I think he'd kill me  haha it's bad enough I eat it.

Well had a much better nights sleep last night, wasn't great but it was better. Everytime I even move in bed, I wake up, and then it takes ages to find a comfy position again. Roll on the days of lying on my stomach again, CANNOT wait for that :o
