BM- MW told me everything's different down there due to the pressures of both baby and weight.....

Janninew- Will be thinking of you, I am sure you will be fine. I'm due a week after your c date, and if it's any help at all, it doesn't feel real to me either! It will be hard, but try and relax.

Lol, I've decided next time I get a text hours later saying 'did you try to ring me?' I shall reply, 'never mind, you missed it' and see what he says. :D Ok I do have work and home numbers for actual emergencies, but you'd think keeping his mobile handy in the evenings would be a given at this stage. :D

He just called. Just as I'd started to go into panic mode that I'd actually not heard from him all day which is unusual for us, specially since I'd texted him just before 8am. Was thinking all sorts had happened and blubbed when he rang. Stupid men. It was nearly 3 hours ago that I rang him first off - I told him that if I'd have gone into labour I would've been forced to have called my mum by now (we're not planning to tell anyone when I do go into labour and he is keen to keep my mum at arm's length anyway)....
  • Oooh Janine - it'll all be fine. I can totally see why you would be nervous, but don't worry chickie, as you say the doctors know their stuff and wouldn't do anything rash. I think it's nice that you have a date now - I think part of what makes me twitchy is that I just don't know when it will happen so I need to feel ready all the time (which I'm not) just in case... Sending you good vibes hun, enjoy these last couple of weeks :) x

    hey all ,

Been to the consultant complete waste of time feel so annoyed and frustrated!

I am 35 weeks my bump is measuring 38!!!!! i asked about inducing but they wont induce early. "If baby is going to get stuck we would rather she got stuck naturally!" oh how reassuring. Suger ++ in my urine sample again so i have to have another GTT which means fasting feeling like poo for days and being all washed out. I asked what happens if the GTT results show something. "Oh at this stage we would just monitor it's a bit late to DO anything about it"

So why am i bothering with the test? Then she accused me of having a sweet tooth actually i am eating hardly anything all because i get really bad heartburn and acid reflux!!

What a bl**dy waste of time

Jannine, just catching up on the days posts. Wow. a bit of a shock for you! As the others have said, its reassuring the docs have grasped the problem and are acting- and now they have a plan they can prepare for the right scenario's. If they are at all concerned about development, it would usually be the lungs at this stage from what i understand, and there are drugs they can give you in advance to help mature babies lungs if they know they are delivering early. Much better than a rushed decision when they dont have time to do these things. Maybe worth upping your Omega 3 with supplements now, as it is supposed to really be beneficial in developing babies brain? I started on mine at beginning of third tri, but if baby is coming early, might as well start now! Plus knowing you will have a wee one, means you can go out and find some teeny baby clothes in advance- not so easy to find on high street!

Maybe worth posting on the parents thread, as i know Pigpen hangs out there sometimes now, and she has a history of preemies too.

I don't think they quite grasp the timescales! :D With this being a second, but with a big gap, I have no idea how long it'll take. He's at least 2 1/2 hours away, hospital is at least half hour from me (other direction from him). If he ignores his phone for a few hours, it could all be over before he arrives. :D

    Thanks for the support ladies!

I forgot to say I am having steroid injections now to help baby's lungs develop. I will also up my omega 3, thanks for the advice Kira. I am seeing the Consultant again this Friday as my blood pressure was also high, she said she wasn't surprised it was high today after being told that I would be having my baby in a fortnight! I was slightly stressed to say the least!

My hubby has just bought me 4 iced fingers home from town and I'm sat eating them, they are my only craving and I need to make the most of having the excuse to scoff my face!

Soooo glad I'm organised and have done my Xmas shopping and got it wrapped up, my hubby laughed when I started in October but he is grateful that its done and he won't have to get involved!!

Drooooll.. I have been craving iced fingers ALL WEEK! Cant get to a bakery to get any and my local sainsbo's doesnt have any!

See, the steroids for the lungs will really help, so great they can start them so soon, instead of last minute. I know easier said than done, but do try and take it easy and relax as much as you can between now and then. The less you do, and more relaxed you are, the more energy your body can put into the baby until it arrives, and the more recharged you will be for the days that come afterwards. Maybe get some (more?) batch cooking done, so you have meals ready to hoik out of the freezer quickly between visits to the hospital after delivery?

I only like the Greggs bakery iced fingers, they always taste fresh and when I eat them baby goes mad! I've had that many recently my hubby said we aren't going to have a baby, but a big iced finger instead!

Have made a start on the batch cooking and have around 2 weeks worth of meals in the freezer already! I'm going to do a big Asda shop next week, get my baby clothes washed and the bedding washed and ironed.

My hubby has been great though, he is luckily at home at the moment (he works in Dubai) so he's doing everything in the house and I'm not allowed to lift a finger!
