How can I be both freezing cold and boiling hot at the same time?

Morning Gilly. I'm very bored, how will I last on Maternity leave if I'm bored already?

I'm bored too, OH is still snoozing. I've scoffed 4 weetabix this morning already. :o that's what happens when I'm bored. Tempted to venture outside, but I don't think I'd like frostbite very much.

Don't bother. I bought tea out to my car this morning while I waited for the windscreen to defrost.... Even the mafogglies ventured out for the minimum time possible..... Only four more outings at 0600hrs!

Baby keeps turning or squirming? All weekend I've had a big draggy feeling at the base of my stomach, and I've had slight pains this morning and last night down below.... Not sure whether it's SPD, baby moving into position, something else.... Will ask MW on Weds.

They have thick coats too :( winter looks pretty but doesn't feel it.

I think I've got to the stage now whenever he moves I feel it, he is one active little baby, not that I'm complaining, gives me peace of mind.

Could be baby getting into position, it's getting closer :p

I know, it's also getting slightly scarier- I know that sounds so wimpy! It's not really labour, or pain from it, that worries me- it's more how I'll cope afterwards.... I've never really been someone who thought much about children.

    Hi ladies
    Can I join please?????
    I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my 3rd, I have 2 boys already.

Had my 20 week scan last week and everything was fine

Could some one add me to the list please as I'm not very good at that sort of thing so I don't want to mess the list up!! I'm due 18th march and we are team yellow. Thanks girls. Xxx

Hey neas, how are things going with yourselves? When are you guys due? I know what you mean about still worrying, I think you will until you have baby in your arms, but then I think any prospective parent does. We are fine, I'll be 35 weeks on Sunday and really can't wait for baby to be here!

Our high risk results were from the 16 week bloods which said we were 1 in 31 for Down's. It was a huge shock, even though I am 37, you just never think it will be you. Anyway we saw the Amnio Consultant twice and he was very vague when answering my questions and didn't instill confidence in me. OH didn't want me to have an amnio full stop due to the risk involved and seeing the Consultant confirmed it for me. I wasn't happy with his attitude towards me, he seemed offended that I dared to ask him questions about his success rate etc and made some very negative comments about people with Down's. He even sent a nurse to try and terrify us by saying if we waited any longer to have an abortion they would have to kill the foetus in my womb before performing the abortion - errrmmm .... who said we were having an abortion?!?!

Anyway after that debacle we switched hospitals and the staff there have been fab. We were referred to Foetal Med and had our 20 week scan there, they thought they could see a hole in the heart, duodenal artresia (a blockage of the intestine), plus my amnio fluid levels were raised - all signs of Down's, and our risk was raised to 1 in 7. It didn't affect how we felt about having our baby, although the health issues were my biggest fear come to life. Our baby having Down's or a learning disability doesn't bother me, it's the worry about the associated health issues.

So we got referred for another scan at 24 weeks (3D :D) and they couldn't see any of the indicators they had seen on the 20 week scan. They said baby was obviously bigger so it was easier to see the organs etc and everything looked fine - our risk factor went back to 1 in 31.

We had another scan at 32 weeks and again everything looked fine with baby. We are still high risk for Down's and we won't know anything for certain until the big day and s/he is born but I don't really think about it. It is hard to believe after the blood tests when it was all I could think about and I'd lie awake worrying about our baby needing surgery etc, but as my dad said, no one is guaranteed a healthy baby / child regardless of all the scans and testing they can do. Now it doesn't enter my head for weeks at a time, unless we have a hospital appointment, but I don't worry about it. I'm sure nearer our due date it will play on the back of my mind a bit, but our baby will be perfect for us, because that is how we made him/her.

Oh Mimi I am so with you there!! OH asked me today if I was sick of being pregnant now? I nearly answered I was sick of being pregnant when MS kicked in at 7 weeks! I am fed up of my under the bump jeans and combats constantly falling down every 5 seconds, I wish I'd bought over the bump :( I'm sick of getting tired after doing very little :( I'm sick of not being able to turn over in bed or get out of bed without assistance :( I'm sick of having heartburn or indigestion :( I'm sick of my pelvis/back/hips hurting :(

AND I've just watched a perineal massage vid on youtube and realised I have to start doing that now :eek::eek: I really don't think I am going to be able to reach without injuring myself or baby, and I think it will be just a step to far to ask OH to do it!

......... BUT I am so glad I'm having a baby and can't wait for the big day :D

Sorry just catching up with thread (you know how it easy). Been pretty busy getting baby room skimmed, painted and decorated with those fisher price funtosee stickers (great they are), plus decoarting hallways and kitchen over last few months..

    Finally I am done :).

3 weeks today wife will be induced. Baby is growing big lol... but we went through a lot of tests along the way too, CVS, anomaly scan, echocardiagram heart scan at 23 weeks, 26,28 and 34 week growth scans. I think we've had about 10 scans all in all lol.

Final leg now so hopefully will all be fine for our babies. You gone through alot as well... but can understand your reason for not doing amnio. I'm suprised they combined risks like that as we only got the initial 1 in 9 chance of downs and 1 in 16 chance of patau/edwards.. we couldn't bear thought of patau or edwards so had CVS, was worst time in our lives :(. Still our baby has proved everyone wrong so far and is massive and heart seems fine too lol ;).

He was estimated at 8lbs at 34 weeks, with a term weight of 11 lbs lol!

    Hi Ladies,

Hope all are OK, can't believe how cold it has gone! I had to scrape ice of my car today! I was sat down before eating an ice finger bun (these are my fav things to eat at the moment) when baby starting kicking that hard I could see my stomach ripple, this is the first time I've seen this and I couldn't stop smiling! Baby is getting really active now and always starts to move when I start eating!

Can't believe I'll be 26 weeks gone this week, where does the time go?!

This is my second week at home after being signed off work and I must say it isn't as bad as I thought! I've started on my present wrapping for Xmas and sorted out lots of paperwork that I've been putting off. Plus the little afternoon naps are lovely!

It was my Birthday on Friday and hubby bought me a photo day so I can have a bump picture taken - really excited! Think I'm going to go when I'm around 30 weeks gone, I want to have a nice rounded bump, but not look huge!

    Take care all

    xxx
