Me either, some charity shop lady once decided to feel my hair, very creepy! And some drunk bloke in a chip shop wanted to once as well, but at least he asked first. He wouldn't shut up till I put my best mummy voice on and scared him right out of the shop. :D

  • Hello ladies (and bumps!). Had quite a day of it yesterday, had some backache yesterday and some cramps on and off since about 6am y'day morning. Called the midwife and it seems like JJ is getting ready to come! Although she said it could be days yet :-( JJ has been quiet all morning, apart from the occasional foot pushing out of the bump and of course, at breakfast time (gonna take after its father).

    Morninggggg.

Such a good mood today, me and OH has a major lie in today, not long up infact, and seems like forever since we've done that, making sausage baps for brunch and then come 2 o clock I'm dragging my bum to Starbucks, 2 for 1 on a gingerbread latte and they're both for me, NOM NOM NOM.

On the weight issue, I'm nearly 27 weeks and I've put on about 7lbs, considering I've had no sickness I'm pleased with that, BUT before my BFP I went everywhere in the car and lived so close to things, since then I've moved and have been walking everywhere so I'm assuming that's why it's so little.

Just back from my 32 week scan and consultant visit. All round good stuff! Looks like beanie having a growth spurt, from being exactly average (49th-51st%ile) last time, she is now at the upper ranges of normal, currently estimated at 4lb 11oz at 32+2. Eek! She only needs just under 1.5 lb more to be bigger than i was at full term! Beanie is also firmly head down still, facing my back, all good, apart from the fact her head is buried in my bladder, which the sonographer joked that she didnt need to tell me.. she was right. I had guessed!
I aslo asked her if she agreed that beanie is a beanie girl, given the uncertainty previous scans, and she agreed on pink and frilly as well, so thats good news!

Consultant was very pleased with everything, said beanies growth was in good steady range, my GTT was perfectly normal, bloods normal etc, and that as long as the blood test he sent me for today to check for Obstetric-Cholestasis (due to my severe itching which i mentioned) comes back clear, i am being discharged from consultant care and can go with community midwife! YAY! Bit of a surprise, as my BMI is def on the pretty high side, but i'm chuffed!
If it is OC however then they wont let bean go over 38 weeks, so will be induced pronto as soon as i hit it, and will therefore stay under consultant care a bit longer. Just off to the pharmacy to get my prescription for Aqueous cream with Menthol, which apparently will help with the mega itch.

That all sounds positive Kira, good luck with getting rid of the itching as it must be driving you nuts.

The getting discharged from consultant care - I want to do this but didn't get chance to discuss it yesterday as the consultant wasn't there and I saw the registrar instead. Perfectly lovely and all fine with measurements but no help with getting signed off - and she booked me in for another growth scan at 35 weeks.

Given that all my tests have been fine, I don't see why I can't go to the midwives (birth centre and consultant unit at the hospital are right by each other)...

BUT much more important, have just discovered the midwife at booking couldn't add up and my BMI is nowhere near as high as she said. No wonder they are treating me like some sort of freak of nature! I'd never really thought about it as I knew I was overweight but I didn't ever know my BMI. I have on my notes a BMI that (according to six different websites I've checked) is about 6 points higher than reality:eek:, so I'm really only just over the cutoff for overweight mothers, not a mile over. Am really p!!!ed off about this now and not sure what to do.

Oh, and can someone help me with where to get raspberry leaf? Probably not the tea as I hate herbal teas anyway. Might just be down to working in a small town, but boots and holland & barrett have failed me and I'm not sure where else to go.

    Afternoon all :D

Eyelinerprincess - How exciting that things could be starting for you! :D

Gilly - enjoy your Starbucks! I'm craving mocha frappuccinos (with extra whipped cream!) at the moment, I have resisted so far, but think I may have to have one eventually... I know it's a bit odd seeing as it's a cold drink rather than hot one but I still want one!

Kira - so pleased everything looks good for you, here's hoping the OC tests come back clear as well and the itching is just 'one of those things'. Hope the aqueous cream helps...

Not much going on with me today. Might be going to Pizza Express for dinner on the way home from work, depending on OH and what time we get to leave... I exchanged some clubcard vouchers for Pizza Express tokens a few weeks ago so though we'd treat ourselves :D

And tomorrow I am planning on having a massive lie-in! OH is off to his monthly kick-boxing/fight club thing at about 10.30am, until 1pm, and I may still be in bed when he gets home... unless I've merely decamped to the sofa...
