    Morning everyone,

Hubby and me are starting to look at our nursery choices nearby, as I that know some have waiting lists. Has anyone else looked at nurseries? What sort of things should I be looking at, or asking about? Here's my list so far........
Opening hours, drop off & pick up times.
    Costs
Are they open all year round?
Do you pay when you take the child out for holidays/sickness?
Do they accept the childcare vouchers?
Do I supply food, nappies etc etc or do they do this
Activities & general plan of care
    Ofstead registered?

Anyone have any more advice? Hoping to start in the next week (ish), but feel a little clueless....... :)

ask about a sleep area and how often the babies are checked etc. some places have the babies sleep outside in prams others inside in cots it is all personal preference but may help with your decision making. You could also ask about staffs qualifications they should have level 3 in something early years related.

I abandoned paracetamol, I do take co-codamol, but I try to take as little as possible.... I was avoiding anything at all, but even the sound of my hips grinding was putting my teeth on edge eventually! (Sorry). Didn't take anything at all bar a couple of paracetamol until I hadn't slept at all one night and was in tears- DH bought me co-codamol then.

Kira, thanks, machine swallows ticket on leaving carpark (thought of that) but don't care anyway. Hopefully HR will have a slightly better idea of what they are doing than the manager. I'd initially said in my email I would agree to a meeting with HR if he had concerns so they could be resolved- his reply was that he would be happy to meet with HR. Presumably this means he will contact them- I've no great desire to do anything about it as it seems stagnant for now. If it has an effect on me, I will complain instantly.
It's just extremely annoying when I'm in early every day, happy to cover shifts with no notice if anyone needs, and I'm always trying to do my best (ugh, that sounds like a work version of a Teachers Pet.). And all this has blown up over one appointment? Just aggravates that apparantly trying to be helpful and efficient in my workplace seems to count for nothing!
Arrgh.... a fortnight. That's all I have to go.

On a separate note, how much paracetamol due you think is ok to take? I've just been stuck on the kitchen floor for 20 minutes, and now i'm up, i'm in pain! I knelt down to pack away the huge sainsburys shop into the under the counter fridge (flipping hate that thing), started to go a bit dizzy (always happens when i'm kneeling!) and sciatica pain started, so sat on the floor instead, and then couldnt get up again for pain down my bum into my right leg. Had to wait it out for the worst to pass before levering myself up in a most undignified manner!
Not taken any pain killers all pregnancy till now, but it hurts so much and my leg is dragging a bit, so feel like i have to. But not sure how much i can take?

i take or am suppose to take the full dosage every day to reduce the pain in my legs not sure it works so i tend to take them on the worse days

Is this a private nursery for a newborn or a "state" nursery for an older child?

When I had my CVS last week the midwife told me I was ok to take 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours but no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.

You've had most of the questions i would ask already mentioned by others. I dont know if you are planning on reusables or disposable nappies, but if you want to try reusables, worth asking what their policy on reusables at nursery is.
Also, not sure if you are planning on B/F or not, or expressing? Are they happy to feed using expressed milk? If so what storage arrangements for it.
When you get to weaning, how do they manage this? If you want to try Baby led weaning, with your own food, will they do this?
Cant remember if anyone mentioned it already, but what are their notice periods if you want to leave, likewise if you need to change days/hours.

oh mimi that is a very good list. I would look at the settings ofsted report before going as it may give you an indication of what to look for as it identifies their strengths and weaknesses. any questions about security and safety are really important to cover

well done on the study missy. I must do some but i am tired!

Keep calm missymoo!! Some ladies have shows weeks before they go into labour! I know you will still panic though cos I would be exactly the same!

I'm flippin knackered now after my 4.30am start, I'm determined not to nap though as I'll sleep even worse tonight. I'm off to the mw tomorrow so may mention my insomnia - you could set your watch on the time I wake up every morning. Its OK this week, but next week when I'm back at work I don't know how I will get through the day!

4th scan tomorrow and seeing the Consultant, looking forward to seeing my baby again and seeing how much baby's grown!

    xx

P.S Is it just me but I've still not got quite used to feeling baby move, and every time I do I can't help but smile!
