Exactly. Formula isn't rat poison!!!!! But putting the ounce of boiling water before the formula went in really worked for us. Easy when you are out and about too as you just take it in a flaskThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

Quite agree Lovecrafting.
The Government are doing a lovely job reducing the cost of feeding babies by taking away the milk tokens for most only to have to reinvest those savings in mental health services and anti-depressants for the poor mothers who develop PND as a result of being made to feel guilty for "failing" their children.
(PS I intend to combination feed and already suffer from depression, so am not having a bash at anyone, other than the Government...)0 -

i agree 100% with this. In alot of cases formula is what's best for baby, if mum isn't producing enough, or it's stressing for both mum and baby, or people are back to work etc, then why continue on a path that's causing undue pressure.
If your baby is being fed, that's the most important thing, in my opinion! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Evening all.:D Hope everyone is well.
Had my midwife appointment today. OH managed to come with me as well, which was nice. Babies heartbeat is fine. She measured me and all measuring fine, which im happy about because i'm still worried about baby being small because i still only have a small bump but me and OH are petite so she said baby will prob just be small.
She also gave me a leaflet about the flu vaccination? Is any1 going to have this?0 -
When I had DS1 I persevered for 6 days and he lost so much weight. The midwives just kept saying persevere, persevere. Poor little man starved and I still feel guilty now as he screamed and screamed. He's got such a big appetite now for a skinny little dude and I'm convinced it's because he remembers being half starved!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

This is where mothers instinct comes in I think. I'm worried as it's my first about being bullied into things by midwives who "know better"
One of my close friends, was sent away from hospital, came back, told to go home, she said no definitely not, said she needed to push, they were saying "oh don't be so stupid" examined her, 10cm dilated :eek:The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Shows they don't know everything. They even wanted to put me on strong antibiotics where the side effects were producing breast milk??!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

I was bottle-fed - never did me any harm..... *goes & rocks in a corner*
And yes, if I'm offered the flu vaccine I will take it (though not sure I will be as I'll have given birth by then) but after having manflu for a fortnight recently I don't want to be knocked out by flu with a newborn to look after
DH heard me banging saucepans so put the phone down. Dinner wasn't too cold & he did the washing upHe's now putting together a bathroom cabinet...

My DS1 is the same Kandboys! Although I kept it up for 6 weeks but I was literally constantly feeding, just couldn't fill him up. That's why I'm going to combination feed from very early this time around, I'm just not happy to be a milk machine for the first 6 months of his life - I want to enjoy being a mum from the start this time!
Anyway, am off to bed with DH and my box of Thorntons to watch some more Spooks....we're just starting season 5 so we've got a good couple of weeks before we get to watch the new series! If anyone has seen it, please don't tell me anything about it lol
Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight (including Pigpen's OH) and labour vibes to the boldies xxx

DH thinks i'm silly but I still get upset now thinking about it. I literally starved that child for 6 days as there was nothing there! But with your first you want to do what the midwives tell you.Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0
