Clearly 7 o clock is my new nap time, just had another tonight. Sent my OH to the shop for some Orange Fanta, I know once I get it though it'l be heartburn for me :

R.e the making up of bottles in advance, how rubbish! If it's to promote breast feeding it's stupid, the majority of people who don't breast feed, want to but can't for whatever reason, so they already feel bad enough about it. The way some midwives get on, is out of order I think, I know it's probably forced upon them too.

I think its just another one of their ways to promote breast is best, I'll be making up bottles in advance for during the night - why would bottle warmers still be sold if they were not suitable?

Probably only because the government haven't thought of banning them yet...

It's so silly. Breastfeeding isn't for everyone. Some can do it some can't. I'm one who can't - I never have any milk come in. They don't leak or get bigger. Nothing there lol!

I have read that it is not advisable to make formula bottles and then reheat them, due to the effect on the proteins not being good. However, the thing i read did say you dont have to serve formula warm, so you can make one up in advance, and just give it to little one without reheating, which is apparently alot safer for tums.

Want some of mines? I could probably collect it at night  Mines haven't got bigger though, just leaky constantly. I know when the baby comes they will probably give up the ghost and no milk will be there at all :o

  • Oooh I can sympathise with the noisy neighbours. Ours turns his TV on loud at about 9pm every night, but revenge shall be mine when baby is born! Mwahahahahahaha :D
Oh and if it's the weekend of the 18th do you think it would be silly of me to decline? Reason being is that it would be my first Mother's Day and I'd hate to be hungover and/or traipsing back from London. Plus what with being in Oz I've missed the last two year's worth of mother's days and would like to see my own mum too......

I would refuse as I couldn't miss 1st Mother's Day! How are you and your mum getting on? Any better?

When Giblet's born it will take an hour to change him/her because I have to figure out the reuseable nappies (and how to clean him/her before I even try putting the nappy on), an hour to get fed because I don't know what to do in what order and many many hours for all the washing - nappies, clothes plus hubbies & mine normal loads.

I'm sure it's all so simple to those of you who've done it all before but I'm seriously panicking now

Apparently Boots website have 'how to ...' videos for new mums. My panic is bathing baby, I'm convinced I'm going to scald him / her. And heating bottles is another panic, again I'm worried about scalding baby :o
Was anyone aware of the new advice re making up bottle feeds? My midwife friend has said you're now only meant to make bottles and use them straight away, rather than make a batch in the morning and keep in the fridge for example. Apparently it's something to do with restricting bacteria growth after a couple of cases of poorly babies.

I'm not planning to introduce formula for the first few months but can imagine it being a big faff having to not have any bottles ready to use.

Yeah, I have heard this, my sister told me, but she took no notice and made them up in batch. I'm worried about having a very distressed baby whilst I'm waiting for a bottle to cool, and that I give him / her it too soon and burn their mouth :(
  • giving a baby cold milk is not a good idea, formula milk is suposed to be stored in the fridge, not heating it up will help cause colic (i am not a medical profesional but honestly please dont give your baby milk right from the fridge)

also if you shouldnt heat it then all food manufacturers need to change there packaging and bottle warmers need to be banned and supermarket cafe's need to be sued because they warm bottles, might aswel sue breastfeeders aswell because the milk is body temperature when it comes out

just re read that it sounds really agressive it wasnt intended towards anyone, just frustration that parents are made to feel like bad mothers because they choose formula, if it was bad for baby, it wouldnt be sold
  • right im off for the night - going to watch bridget jones in bed and scoff some choc - nothing else to do! hehe

night all - and hope we all get some rest and leak free boobs night :D:D
