ooh lovely soup recipe mimi, my easy fail safe soup is spicey parsnip.

    1kg carrots
2-3 big parsnips (depending on how much you like them!)
    2 medium onions
    1 sweet or ordinary potato
    1 chicken stock cube
    1 veg stock cube
    salt and pepper
    tsp of chinese 5 spice.
    some garlic

shove it all in a pan let it simmer for an hour or so, then blend, lovely.

Also I do a roasted veg soup where you literally just put whatever veg you have into a baking tray with a bit of olive oil salt and pepper, then put them in the oven for 45 mins- an hour on maybe 200, you know when they're done as they go very brown, then make up some chicken or veg stock and blend it all up together.

    I usually put in
    frozen broccoli
    frozen cauliflower
    potato
onion ( you need this as really adds flavour)
a few whole garlic cloves (again you need this)
    carrots
    salt and pepper

Literally you can shove anything in, is really yummy!
  • BTW meant to ask, any of you lot got a sure fire way of getting rid of acid? Rennies and milk last me oooh about 5 mins.

Great nausea and the runs, knew it wasn't gonna be my day...

Mmmmm I am so going to Tescos after lunch for some ingredients! I have a huge loaf of Tiger bread in the freezer which would be delicious with soup wouldn't it!

Eyeliner I get lots of acid indigestion and heartburn. The only things that work are milk and GP prescribed strength Gaviscon which is disgusting but does work for me x

eyeliner I also have the double strength gaviscon stuff is gross but does seem to help, if its really bad i take it with the tesco indigestion tablets they both seem to work pretty well. The lady in the pharmacy said after you have drunk your gaviscon, drink a glass of water as it helps it work quicker? Hope that helps. and hope you feel better soon. Being due almost the same day as me, do you feel like your bump has grown massively in the last week or so? mine seems to have doubled in size lately!!!

Kandboys I too fancy soup, have some spicey parsnip in my freezer so thats for lunch then :)
  • I can't say I've noticed a massive change, but OH keeps telling me how big I'm getting!

  • Im going to hold off on the batch cooking for a few weeks then.....but in the meantime can still cook and have now! I have a great Sweet Potato Soup recipe :

    1tbsp Olive Oil
    1 Onion peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic - if you want it!
750g Sweet Potato peeled and chopped
1 large red pepper - deseeded and chopped
    1.2 litres veg stock
150ml coconut milk - although I dont normally put in

Heat the oil and cook onion for 2 mins until softened but not browned. Add Garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

Stir in the sweet potato and pepper, then pour in the veg stock and bring to boil. reduce to simmer for 10 - 15 mins until potato and pepper are soft.

Blitz in a liquidiser in batches until smooth. Then return to pan add coconut milk and heat through. Season with salt and pepper.

Yum Yum might have to make this later!

I made a stew in the slow cooker overnight - not a good idea - woke up at 3am smelling it and all I could think about was food!!

I don't know if I could stomach that! Although later on I may be so desperate that I'll try anything.
