    Afternoon ladies.

I just wondered if any of you have thought about donating your umbilical cord blood?

Me and Oh looked into it, but it's only done at certain hospitals sadly, otherwise I would have.

Never even heard of that before! How can you find out?

I really want to make a cake but I have to restrain myself. I have the habbit of making a cake and then instead of baking it eating the mixture! And being pregnant not being able to eat raw egg so cant contemplate making it as I have no self restraint. Now im craving cake mixture :(

I've just eaten a whole box of cadburys chocolate fingers, it does say on the box "One may lead to another...."

I'm not feeling guilty about it as I've got a cough and cold, and I had porridge and a banana for breakfast and made a roast butternut squash with spinach risotto for my lunch. I have no stop signal on my appetite at the moment.

Isn't the saying, "Feed a cold, starve a fever" :rotfl:

It is a shame that there's so little hospitals doing it. :(

My hospital (Royal Free in Hampstead) does it and I will donate.
Also I think I have been asked my the Miscarriage Clinic at St Mary's to donate as well...

I am more than happy to donate it all if it will help research, including placenta
  • Chicken please DONT buy a lot of clothes for team yellow. I didnt know what DD1 was and brought lots of neutral stuff. She was born on a Saturday, we was out sunday, come monday me and mum had hit the shops to buy pink stuff and all the neutral went unworn and wasted.

If you are buying anything - wait until Dec and make sure they mark it as a gift reciept

Plus you will get lots of pressies Blue Monkey. People like buying blue/pink for a new baby!

Ok ok... Thanks girls... I'm still a bit baffled as to what clothes to actually buy... Do I just get lots of vests for the time being? Which length sleeves (no/long/short)? What will my baby wear over that??

This isn't weird Missy - it's quite normal. I LOVE hot weetabix... Drizzle with milk to ensure no dry edges, then zap in the microwave for 50 seconds, drain off excess milk so there's none sloshing about, then finish for another 10 seconds in the mic. Sprinkle with a little white sugar! Been a staple of mine for years!!

Just had a look and my hospital doesn't do it either, which is a shame as I would have. I'm suprised my hospital doesn't as it is a huge new university hospital.

Really BM? I remember having it on occassion when I was a kid, but haven't had it since, didn't realise people still ate it :) Feel less strange now.

i remember when dd1 was born they were doing some research into stem cells and they took cord blood from her, they asked to take it and in return her stem cells would be put on ice or in some sort of storage for x ammount of years, came in verry handy when dd2 was born because she was so sick and they managed to match dd1's to dd2's i will be donating whatever they want.

looks like i wont be donating this time, it all seems to be london hospitals that take it now

Redhead - I'd been giving serious thought to getting it frozen for potential future use, (it seems to be much more common in the US) but I will defiantly have a read around donating it.

After today's scan, I'm still team yellow, with a slight hint of team blue. I've another scan in 4 weeks, so maybe I will get a definte answer then, but I'm just glad everything still looks healthy and normal.

I'm quite happy to donate whatever can be used- I very much doubt my hospital does though, it isn't exactly modern!
