To see what I mean, try not pushing when going for a number 2 next... Just let it happen, no straining. AND my booklet also says that grunting and groaning opens the throat, and opening the throat also opens erm..... other similar areas.

Some good advice here but don't rely on getting your Bounty pack in the hospital. With DS2 I had him on the Friday morning and spent the rest of the day on delivery as I was high risk. Then the Bounty lady didn't come on the weekend so I missed out on it as well as the photographerThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
I had looked into hypno birthing - especially when I was suffering with morning sickness which led to a bit of panic attacks etc. But once the sickness had gone and I was back to 'normal' I went off the idea but not sure why. It makes so much sense to go into it being relaxed and ready rather than petrified of pain. I just think I wouldnt be a good candidate for it as im always worrying and have a low pain threshold. When I was feeling so ill with the morning sickness I started to panic and could not seem to calm down at times. I guess that could mean I may be perfect for the hypno birthing as its exactly what I need but im just sceptical about wether my mind would work over matter.
Im sure I just contradicted myself several times there LOL . . . .:T baby boy born 01/01/2012 my New Years Day Boy

If you have a look via the link i put up, there are a few short samples you can listen to. I definately think its worth a try, if only to learn some techniques to relax. There is nothing to say you cant have pain relief if you need it, its all about making you feel in control..Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I know what you mean! I think you need to really believe in it tbh.
One of my best friends who is also pregnant is a natural worrier too... She has used hypnotherapy in the past for anxiety, but I think when it comes to having a baby, she feels protected by the medical surroundings and that is more important for her. For her, control is having pain relief and putting herself in the hands of the medical professionals, for me - it's trusting my body's capabilities. There's no way she'd consider a home birth and I want to avoid a hospital birth... Horses for courses, you've just got to go with what feels right for you. But as Kira says, you've got nothing to lose by looking into it0 -
Just been on ebay and bought the 4cds for £29, im willing to give anything a try :-):T baby boy born 01/01/2012 my New Years Day Boy

I just hope I can have the home/water birth I want, but the course also teaches you to go with the flow if you can't get what you want.
I think I'll refuse internals during labour too... The only point to them, from what I can see, is that they put you on the midwife's standard timing of dilating at 1cm per hour... If there is no medical implication I don't care how long it takes - my body hasn't read those guidelines about 1cm per hour, and surely everyone is different!!
I don't always talk about hypnobirthing as I feel it has the potential to be quite controversial, but I deffo feel empowered by it. But we do live in an over-medicalised world at the mo, particularly where birth and labour are concerned. From a very early age we're taught that it's painful and scary and hard and horrid... and hypnobirthing looks to contradict some of those myths....
The proof will definitely be in the pudding I guess!
i am so jelous, i really want a home birth but because i will be having a preterm labour and steroids a weeks before im not allowed one, i have completley and utterly put my foot down that i am not having a c section but as for the rest of it, the current plan (and im not even 12 weeks until monday) is they are taking me in at 30 weeks i will have the steroids and 2 days later they will begin to monitor the baby to see if its safe to deliver, they will keep me in from 32 weeks (i have usually delivered by then ) and i will be scanned and monitored daily to see if they think the baby will cope, the plan is to get him/her out before (s)he gets into distress and deal with the consiquences after. aparently if i make it to 35 weeks then we are in a good place. Some good advice here but don't rely on getting your Bounty pack in the hospital. ohh yeah i didnt think of that, i wonder if the people who go home 6 hrs later will not receive theres either (i want to but wont be able to)0 -

Good for you! Positive mental attitude.Maybe just see it as one tool in a tool box. Whatever you can get out of it will help, no one says you have to go the whole hog, and have no intervention or pain relief.
Just feeling better prepared and more relaxed helps deal with the unexpected stuff that happens.
Due to my high BMI, i cant have a homebirth/water birth, so i'm prepared for that. I'm just keeping an open mind other than that. I'm not pro or anti pain relief, so i'll go with the flow. I'd like to be able to keep mobile enough to change positions, if i can walk around as well, bonus. If the CD's can help me to stay relaxed enough to take it as it comes, then great!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

oh lovecrafting, didnt realise it was going to be so difficult for you, poor you x
I like the thought of hypno birthing etc, but as im not sure if I'll be c section I can't really think about it, plus I guess I'm leaving it a bit late now though, I believe in the fight or flight thing, I know in difficult situations, if I just take a minute to calm down, slurp of tea, deep breath I can pretty much handle anything, rather than start panicing letting myself get worked up and getting into a complete state. I've had to learn this as I've got older with OH being away so much, I have no choice but to cope and be strong and stay calm I guess.0 -
Blue_Monkey wrote: »Quick question - those of you on Team Yellow, are you going to buy any girl/boy clothes and take back what's not needed? It's dawning on me that bubba will be born either during the madness of Xmas shopping or if I'm late, when all the shops are shut or full if crappy sale stuff? So was thinking of getting a few non-unisex bits now perhaps? I'm finding that what is available in unisex is pretty dull....
Everything I have bought is gender neutral but is bright multi coloured. I don't really do pastel colours. Next had some fab stuff in in the summer, but I haven't been in lately.I am tired, I ache my bump is huge my legs hurt and my lips are dry and however much i drink i am still thirtsy!
Oooh, are you my twin? I've taken to taking at least 2 glasses of squash to bed,if not 3 sometimes as I wake up and my mouth has literally not a drop of saliva in it
My cold seems to have eased a bit today but I think I'm starting with a sore throat and an ear infection so off to the Docs in 15 mins. I've als had a heavy pressing feeling on my pelvis all day which has made it difficult to walk. I am so slow I think a tortoise overtook me today when I walked to the shop :rotfl:0
