Morning!
No middle of the night posts from anyone so I hope you all slept well?
Thanks for the wedding cost tips. We're not very traditional and have so far put a deposit down to hire a local farm's barn and garden (£1500). It's a blank canvas - we are literally left to our own devices and can do what we want. I thought this might work out cheapish but not so sure now:
Venue £1500
Marquee (inc internal stuff) £4500
Food (afternoon tea then hog roast later) £2000
Booze (no license so can't sell any) £2000???
Then we'd probably have someone we met traveling or BIL for the photographer (say £300-500) music will likely be done by OH's dj friends, cake by MIL who is a chef, decorations and flowers by my mum and stepmum (£500), have seen a nice dress from BHS For £90...
But then there are still things like rings, OH's suit, honeymoon (we love to travel so happy to splash out on this) so all-in-all I reckon we'd be looking at approx £15kand that's with roping in friends and family and keeping it simple...
I'd rather spend an extra £10k on a house and throw a garden party instead, or spend £5k on an amazing holiday and get married whilst away.....
Anyway, I shouldn't go too off topic here and bore you all!!
Quick question - those of you on Team Yellow, are you going to buy any girl/boy clothes and take back what's not needed? It's dawning on me that bubba will be born either during the madness of Xmas shopping or if I'm late, when all the shops are shut or full if crappy sale stuff? So was thinking of getting a few non-unisex bits now perhaps? I'm finding that what is available in unisex is pretty dull....0 -
Morning all
I'm team yellow and not expecting to buy any boy or girl clothes in advance. After the first few weeks, I'll want to get out anyway even if it's to the indoor shopping centre so will buy things then. I expect gifts from family and friends might be gender specific so might end up with a few bits and pieces anyway.
I've found some nice colourful unisex stuff, but it's not easy to come by....TTC #3..........0 -
morning, I slept slightly better, woke up lots but made myself go back to sleep and kept turning over, sleeping diagnally across the bed!! Think it was still about 1 before I actually got to sleep.
I too love watching baby wiggle about, its one of the lovely things about being pregnant.
BM might be worth buying boy and girl bits but mothercare, matalan and sainsburys do nice unisex stuff, and you can always get boy/girl bits in the sale, and don't forget people are going to buy you things. And with the wedding, we managed to get things a lot cheaper by spending hours and hours researching and finding the best things at discount prices. Went to an outlet place for OH's suits and they were from saville row co. One of my dresses was a 'prom dress' and the other was half price, watch alterations though they can be expensive. My ring I had specially made and OH wanted a titanium with gold inset so shopped around saved £150 on his ring getting it on the internet rather than in the city.
Well I actually set my alarm to get me up early this morning. And I have put some washing on and put the charity stuff outside! Which considering I usually sleep til 9iish I'm doing well. Feel really good about getting my charity stuff out of the house, it has been sitting there months!!!
Still thinking about the lilypadz, think they might be a better investment for me, I hate wearing a bra at the best of times, well clothes generally to be honest. So they would be good, and mean that I could wear my vest tops to bed.0 -
So many pages in one night!!!!
Waxing- DH has taken over the job.Maybe it's just because it's baby No 1, but if down there is going to be on show, it will look good! No-one will attack me with a razor.
Pooping through the labour- I so wish that hadn't been one of the first things DH told me about labour. Talk about removing any notion I had of being serene and composed and looking at it completely through rose-tinted glasses.
Cloudberry- I've bought a nice bikini for the birth, though I know I'll only need half of it! Want to be able to use it afterwards. Didn't bother with a tankini, as I thought I'd get too warm- I'll rip the bikini top off if I'm overheating quite happily. For the cats, buy cheap pepper and spread it around the boundaries of your garden every so often- their noses are much more sensitive, and it will repel them. Orange rinds and used ground coffee will do as well.
K- A whole brass band trooping out of there actually made me twinge..... Ouch at the thought, thankfully it's not possible!
Gilly- there is a minor risk I believe from mould spores affecting a baby's breathing. Honestly don't think there's anything much too it, and your baby's health would likely be fine, but would give you an angle to play? Contact DHSSPSNI, they may be able to advise- http://www.dhsspsni.gov.uk/index/about_dept.htm I know salt and rice are good at collecting moisture, though admittedly I've never tried that for damp.... Depending on what type of walls they are will depend on what needs done- shout and stamp feet. Don't allow just a paint job, it will need damp-proofed properly. There are damp-paints available (Stop Stain etc) but they're only good for light damp.
WW- Nice boss was asking, as I know Nasty Boss is giving him an earful in private, and is too canny to actually say anything to me. Nasty Boss is annoyed I have Fridays' off, but next week I'm sure Nasty thinks I'm taking the proverbial as I have a consult on Wed and Physio on Thur, then off Fri.....Should be a nice week! Nice boss knows fine well it's acceptable, but Nasty's being well- nasty about everything at the moment, and Nice is caught in the middle. I can also quote Die Hard line by line. And Rambo.
I've managed to pull muscles all down my left leg, and my right leg is numb, so I'm doing an early Halloween impression of Lurch today! It's cold, and I have co-codamol already in me as I'm sore and shuffly (see? Don't even need a mask for the Lurch look!), and work is freezing even with an oil heater and extra layers of clothing. There was snow in NI yesterday, if it's going to be cold, I want snow!!! Bump last night leaned to one side, was quite strange looking.
