  • Cloudberry - collect the poo and chuck it back over next doors yard lol

Funny you should say that - there was a hole in the fence for so long - the missing piece being on their side so we couldnt get at it from ours - I started putting the poo through the gap - needless to say a week later the fence was repaired - at least I know how to fix the fence in the future!

my husband has been putting it into a bucket with a lid on and putting the corrosive lime on top to get rid of the smell, if you leave the poo lying around they recognise the smell and come back to do it again.

Sorry to talk about pooing during birth and cat poo all in one night :rotfl:

Had a look through the contract and rental agreement, nothing about damp, mould, airing of flat etc at all, it's completely vague. What worries me is I think, if they do anything about it, it'l be a case of come in, paint over it and hope for the best, which isn't good enough in my opinion.
Tell them you want them/the owner to provide an electric dehumidifier, or that you are willing to source one yourselves, if they will refund you. at the least, they should pay for some of these (or similar) as a short term measure to dry things out.

Even if they refuse, its prob worth spending a bit yourselves to buy some as they arent too pricey, nor are refills, and might save your furniture. We had to use some in our student house years ago, and they did make a difference.

Gilly what does it say about repairs and repair timing?

Nothing about timing. Just about responsibilities from us and from the landlord.

Ours are the contents and to ensure the house is kept in a reasonable manner.

His are the structure, heating, sanitation, plumbing, electricity etc.

My OH said he will head up there tomorrow to speak to someone face to face. I feel bad as it was only today we phoned, it's not like we expect someone out right away, just an idea of time scale would be good.

The last time I was in the bathroom, and the guy just opened the door with the "spare" key, got the fright of my life, and now I get faint when showering so leave the bathroom door open, imagine having a shower, lathering up and howling away to I will survive and someone comes into your house!

Sounds like you need a chain on the front door! Should be cheap enough to buy and fit!

We have a dehumidifier but it doesn't seem to be working great :( it is pretty old though. Will order some of those and see how it goes, could end up being pricey if we need them for all over the house though. The worrying thing is, the mould is worse in the living room, from what I can see tonight and it never "feels" damp in here or smells, whereas the bedroom is really quite stale and the mould isn't as bad.

Will speak to them tomorrow about getting a dehumidifier that works :)

I know, apparently he knocked on the door, but I couldn't hear him, he was a nice enough chap like, was telling me all about his daughters and life story :rotfl: but it is a tad creepy that they can't give you a time scale for repair men arriving. Wouldn't mind so much if OH was here, but obviously he can't be here 24/7.

God I sound like such a drama llama tonight, my life is normally mind numbingly boring. Roll on 6 months, when our landlord will be OH's Dad!

If they agree to you buying one and claiming back (which can be quicker than waiting for them and ensures you get a decent one which works), get it in writing how much you can spend, and when/how you will get a refund. I have rented for many years and encountered all kinds of crappy behaviour from agents, hence not trusting a word they say most of the time. Its very easy for them to agree to stuff to get rid of you, and then deny thats what they agreed.

  • Talking of pruning your lady garden - I use Nair/Immac (whatever it's called these days). I use a really small g-string for guidelines and sometimes get OH to put it on. Sit there for 10 mins playing on my phone then wipe it all away and usually looks pretty neat.... Only problem is where I've got a bit bigger the tops of my legs rub together more than usual and I guess the added, ahem, moisture down there means I sometimes chaff a little. Hurts like a b**tard if you get Nair on the chaffed bits, but a bit of 8-hour cream usually sorts that.
