evening all, well we managed to get some decorating done then when it was collecting the kids from school time i gave up and went to morrisons for some shopping and had tea there, kids eat free on schoolnights and given the alternative wich was cooking i was up for that. then i had a govenors meeting at the school, isnt it funny how those half an hr meetings always seem to take 2 hrs.


re the gd thing, when my midwife finally phones me i am suposed to be going for a gtt because of my bmi and size of the bump plus family history etc, to be honest i suspect i have it because i am always thirsty, seem to be eating for twenty and keep going light headed.

please can you change my edd to 17/3/12 (its still not confirmed with a growth scan, i might get that after i have delivered)

Hello Ladies,

Had a quick flick but I'm afraid I haven't got time to work through the 60 odd pages you've racked up in 2 weeks!!!

Daisy is 2 weeks old tomorrow - sorry Kandy I gave in and let OH have Daisy, but she suits it better than Charlotte.
BF is going well, but having to use nipple shields as she just couldn't find my inverted nipple. :-( Haven't slept for 3 nights as she wouldn't settle but am armed with lots of sleep inducing tips for tonight.

Very brief labour story - went into be induced at 6pm weds night, was monitored to check babies heart at 7 in order to be given gel, but was already contracting every 2 mins. This was repeated at 11pm, and 6am, so no gel for me. Then had my waters broken at 11am (was 2cm), after 4 hours of strong long and frequent contractions was examined - 2.5cm!! They said they were going to give me a drip and recommended an epidural due to the strength of my contractions and lack of progress, however my platelets were dangerously low so wasn't allowed it! (I'd tried gas and air and hated it!) Had Meptid (sp) which worked brilliantly - 2 hours of smiling and giggling through the pain. Contractions got more frequent and due to the lack of epidural they cancelled the drip. Then started trying to push around 7.30pm, was examined (midwife had been putting it off cos she didn't want to upset me if I was 4cm or something) I was 9cm! An hour or so of apparently silent pushing, and she was born at 8.46pm.
Lost a fair bit of blood andhad 2nd degree tear and stitches. My iron and platelets stayed dangerously low so had to stop in 2 nights.

Advice for stitches - lift your bum up when you pee, use cotton feeling maternity pads rather than plasticy sanitry towels, put a bit of distilled witch hazel on your pad, shower at least twice a day, with just water down there, use a hair dryer to dry yourself. And don't be scared of going for a number 2, it's not as bad as you might think! (Just a few things that worked for me!)

Didn't get my water birth but still didn't find it that bad, hips and pelvis are completely better and crutches have been ditched. Heartburn also went immediately!

Anyway - someone wants her mummy, hope everyone else is well and labour vibes to those who want them.

Stop it! I'm stuffed from a chinese tonight (every meal feels like the last supper :rotfl:) but I now really fancy Phish Food! :rotfl:

i have heartburn ;-( was so annoyed the doctor didnt sign me off that i forgot to ask for something for it...

I've done nothing today, it's alarming. My OH's lunch plate is still on the table where he left it at half 1 :eek: he's due in from work in about an hour, and the house looks how it was left. I've not ate anything. I really don't know what I've done with my time. Was on the phone to my best friend for 2 hours though

Really need to get my finger out!!

Gilly, move the plate from the table to the sink and deal with it tomorrow! You should probably at least eat something though, but as for the rest of it, I wouldn't worry!

It's in the dishwasher now, out of sight, out of mind and all that. I know, tempted to get my OH to bring something in for me, I'm thinking chow mein, it's naughty though! I feel so much better tonight after speaking to loads of people on the phone. I think I was a bit of a drama llama earlier. Baby finally settled down for a few hours, now he's back to thumping me. My stomach actually feels bruised, she was pressing so hard today, my OH said I was wincing, before I got pregnant and seen scans on tv etc they always looked so gentle, if only...
