16lbs  WHAAAAT?!?! Surely they'd be monitoring you and get it out before then! My legs are crossed at the thought.
They would in this country but this was in the far east - I lied - it was 19.2lbs. My midwife made a comment one day about it and she said it was probably because GD had gone 'uncontrolled'.

That's horrific! Imagine having an almost 20lb baby, that's almost 3 times what a lot of babies are at birth! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

or about twice the size of my DS2 when he was born :rotfl:
Oh I'm in for a big 'un I think. My OH was the smallest outta his 4 and he was 8.9lbs or something along those lines, I was 6 weeks early and was 6lbs  No wonder my baby has a large head!!The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Money Honey She got back to me. Apparently I have to go in on Friday to learn how to monitor my blood sugar (bit of a pain as I already know how. My nan had type 2 and my step-mom has type 1, so I'm used to the pinprick and the little cardboard strips)
I asked if they could do it while I'm at the hospital tomorrow, but apparently the clinic is only on a Friday  what a pain in the bum that'll be.
Also got a call off of my MW, who I've never met. The only two MW appointments I've had were witha stand in apparently.
MW called to tell me I missed my 28 week appointment today. I told her I haven't had any appointments through, besides which, I'm 34 weeks pregnant and already had my 28 week check up & growth scan at the hospital.
She's booked me in to see her next Wednesday so she can measure me with a tape! I can see how useful that will be, 6 days after a blooming growth scan!!!
With regards to the GD, I already knew Dyl was going to be big, as he was measuring 32w at my 28w scan.
It doesn't worry me, as DS was large, and he was born a healthy 6lb 7oz at 35w 3d, so I just expected another fat early bubba anyhow.
We'll see how big he is tomorrow0 -
I had three growth scans as Giblet is on the 10th percentile - plus I have the smallest bump of all my NCT mom's - but I'm still convinced he/she's going to be 10lbs...

jenjade remeber u can self certificate for the first ten days of sickness so don't feel that u have to go in tomorrow. If I were u I would ring in sick tomorrow and tell them u have a doctors notes for amended duties and you want those duties in place before u come back to work.
I'm feeling proper peaky, had some more show and feel so sick so have taken myself off to bed. Midwife in the morning hope she will give me some good news coz I'm bored of feeling this crappy now!0 -
Winnie & JenJade I thought you could only self cert for the 1st week of sickness after that you needed a docs note?
re the gestational diabeties side of stuff, i have it and the stuff the diabetic nurse and everyone went through with me was useless! the dietition actually told me it was ok for me to have the odd can of coke and it was ok for me to eat cocopops for breakfast
i cant get my numbers under control, well mainly my evening numbers so the last 2 tests of the day, so have been put on metformin for now and am being checked weekly at the moment by the diabetic consultant. its really helpful to keep a food diary including the times you eat so you can pinpoint why you have had a higher number than usual.
I have to take finger pricks 7 times a day and get 3 extra scans to ensure baby isnt getting big. thankfully its staying right where it should on the growth scale, but i think thats helped by me not putting any weight on. I seem to fluctuate within a kilo of my start weight which the main consultant is extremly pleased with.
take a good book and something to drink with you to the clinic, i was at my first clinic appointment for nearly 4 hours the first time and when i went on tuesday i was there nearly 3 hours :eek:0 -
Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, I'm going to bounce this baby out! :rotfl:

I honestly think my poor boy is angry at being poked and prodded today, he's not stopped thumping me since 11 o clock this morning! Must be a stubborn male, wonder where he takes that fromThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
