Oh I feel for you both, nothing more helpful to say! :( x x

I know :( thanks for replying anyway. I know he will pick up, I suppose it's just the shock of it all for him. Hopefully after his sleep he'l be thinking a bit more rationally.

I'm the emotional unstable one and he's the one who holds it all together, just not used to it :o

Hugs Gilly, I know how he's feeling! Hopefully, like you say, once he's slept on it and can think about it a bit more rationally, it won't seem so bad. And if this exam is only a percentage of his overall mark then other exams, coursework etc, may mean that he will still get a 2:1 at the end of it all?

I'd give him a bit of space for now then hopefully he will feel more like talking about it later.

This module is a big percentage of his grade, he looked back through past papers from 2006 onwards and learnt everything and the questions were so similar every year, and then this year nothing the same came up, which is crap tbh.

I've tried to reassure him that I was brought up by parents who didn't have a qualification between them and we all got by okay, so between us we do actually have some sort of education so we'l be fine. :(

I want him to give up his responsibility at work, I think it's too much at the moment, but he doesn't seem keen, but we'l see how it goes.

On another note, he's sleeping, I'm bloody starving, dying to put dinner on but I suppose I better wait until he wakes up. I've just had to have a tin of soup and 2 slices of bread to tide me over :o

Aw Gilly that's a shame, feelings after the exam don't always reflect the grades, he might well surprise himself. When will he hear the result?

On a similar note, OU have informed me that my next exam is three days before my due date, and if I can physically take it they want to send an invigilator to our house to watch over me! Still feels a while away but is it wrong that I'd rather do it like that if I can than put it off til I have my lovely baby in October?!

Nah he said it's the single worst exam he's ever sat. He had no clue basically for 80% of the questions and with it all being mathematical, you get a good percentage of your marks for working, but he said he couldn't even do any of it :( He will probably get the results late Jan/Early Feb.

No, I think doing it before baby is an excellent idea, more time for focusing and concentrating. Imagine trying to study for an exam when you have a 3 month old baby

Grrr, just wrote out a reply then clicked on the button to go back to the list of threads rather than the 'post' button... why do I keep doing that?!

I struggled through university, suffering with depression for a lot of it, god knows how but I managed to scrape a 2:1, and my degree was in hotel & tourism management, and I now work in finance! I pretty much picked my course by closing my eyes and sticking a pin in a list of courses, as I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do with myself. I've had several conversations with my mum over the past few years about how I would probably not bother with uni if I had to do it all over again. I don't think that a degree is a necessity any more to get on in life, unless of course you want to work in an industry where you need to have a degree.

That's really just bad luck that the questions were completely different, sounds like he couldn't have done much more to prepare for the exam!

I'm getting hungry now... Wednesday nights is 'film night' with two friends, we always get takeaway, can't wait tonight! Just waiting for OH to get home so I can have the car...

In the meantime I'm watching a 'Bridezillas' program on an obscure cable channel, I'd forgotten how completely ridiculous American women can get when they get married! One girl had five different dresses (all full-on bridal gowns too...) to wear throughout the day, the other girl is kicking off because she can't find her knickers...! :D

Went upstairs not long after 3 feeling a bit tired, woke up just after 5 and now feel really dopey and not quite right.

DH then came home in a foul mood and has p...ed me off by just sitting complaining and swearing so I've had to send him to bed (he's always much better after a nap - must be good practice for dealing with a toddler).

I'm now cooking my own dinner and don't care if what's left is manky by the time he wakes up, or I have to go get him up which is the more likely option. Sometimes I could swear he's the pregnant hormonal one

Sorry to hear about your OH Gilly, at least he's got reason to be upset. It may well not be as bad as he thinks, especially as it is only a part of his course not the whole thing.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, it really means a lot to me. You've no idea the support I get from talking to you ladies day in and day out. I really think I would have went crazy without this place. I'm stuck here with no friends or family, and most days you're the only other people I talk to other than my OH, so thanks so much xxxxx
