The new market leader for easy access accounts. The only point to watch out for is that you lose the 1.45% bonus if you close the account before 31st Aug 2012.
The application saysWhen your account is opened you will need to make your first deposit by BACS payment or standing order from your nominated account. Please note, it can take up to 5 banking days for your payment to reach your account.
This suggests Nottingham BS does not accept Faster Payments. Can anyone confirm this?0 -
I opened a fixed rate eSaver at the end of August. I sent a payment from RBS to Nottingham on 30/8 which they received on 1/9 so they didnt accept FP then.God save the King!

Just made an online payment from smile which would have gone via FP if available, but it didn't, so I presume no FP payments can be made in to it.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

"Minimum to open £500", doesn't bother me, but some people might not have £500...and can you let the balance drop below £500 after you have opened it or will they close it?0

Thank you Chadsman, opening went smoothly.
Payment out of my account by FP but Nottingham system in is BACS so 3 days to appear online.0 -
My application was rejected as I failed the electronic ID checks - well there's a surprise.
So I need to send in an application form together with ID.
Interestingly they say at the bottom of the instructions that " Please note that we will NOT return any of your ID documents"0 -

Electronic ID checks are very hit and miss.
Coventry BS rejected me (even though I had been a previous online customer a year before with no changes) yet I have just applied to Nottingham (I've never been a customer) & passed!0 -
I just started to make an application but I have decided not to proceed due to the fact that you are obliged to give them consent to use your contact details for marketing purposes and for those details to be passed to "carefully selected third-party organisations".
There is no way to opt out on the application form. The only way to opt out is to write to their savings department, by which time your details will probably have been distributed to other organisations (and it will then take some time before they get notified that you do not want to be contacted). I have friends and family who have been plagued by phone calls even after they informed a company that they wanted to be removed from their marketing list. The best thing is to make sure that you never get put on the marketing list in the first place.
I would rather get a slightly lower interest rate somewhere else than consent to the above. I will not be opening this account. Thanks to the OP anyway for letting us know about this account.
SS2“The Nottingham” means Nottingham Building Society and its subsidiary undertakings, Nottingham Property Services and Nottingham Mortgage Services. The Nottingham’s Marketing Group (“the Marketing Group”) includes the Nottingham and carefully selected third-party organisations with which the Nottingham has a commercial relationship. A list of the current Marketing Group can be obtained from the Nottingham’s Marketing department.
The Marketing Group will use the information you have given for the administration of your account, statistical analysis and to advise you of any products we believe may be suitable to your needs. The Marketing Group may also use your information for credit scoring, debt collection and fraud prevention.
Sometimes we may send you details of products, services or offers which may be of interest to you. If you do not want to receive this information, please write to us at our Savings Department quoting the numbers of all the accounts you have with us.
We do not pass information on to other companies for their own research, analysis and marketing purposes. However, we may pass information on to other companies to conduct research, analysis and marketing activities on our behalf.
We may also use your personal information to update and enhance our customer records, to create a customer profile on you and to help with our product and service development.0 -
Thanks to Chadsman for the info. To Special_Saver2 - I share your concerns! However, I have just applied online, and once you are registered and have logged on and changed the password, you just go to "my details" and opt out of all marketing.0

First thing I did online was opt out of the marketing clause.0
