Just had an email from Barclaycard - the good news is that the 1% cashback is staying!

Till March 2012 anyway. Then it will probably go for a Burton IMO.

Anyone found out if the Egg's 'Egg Money Manager' facility will still be available for us when we stop using an Egg credit card and change over to the Barclaycard one on the 7th November?

I note that this facility and its web site at http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_48814--View_845,00.html is still owned by Egg Banking plc and has not been transferred to Barclaycard within the transfer of Egg's credit card business.

For lots of us this will then mean, that after the 7th November, we may no longer be clients of any Egg group company (which has Citigroup Inc. as its holding company) although by using the facility Citigroup Inc companies will still be able to target users to sell them services.

Thus far Barclaycard have not given this any mention.

Clause 6.1 of the Egg Money Manager T&Cs says:

6.1 We may cease to provide your Egg Money Manager if you cease to be an Egg Customer or otherwise cease to have access to the Secure Area for any reason or we reasonably believe that you no longer wish to continue to use your Egg Money Manager because you have not used it for a period of at least three months.

    There are other clauses too:

6.2 We may change these terms and conditions to make them fairer to you or more easily understandable or to correct a mistake (providing that this will not adversely affect your rights), or to cover a development in, or the introduction of, new products and services and new ways in which you can use your Egg Money Manager or to reflect a change in the law or any code of practice (or the way in which they are applied). We may also introduce a charge for licensing you the use of your Egg Money Manager. We will give you at least one month's prior notice of any change or addition to these terms and conditions. We will tell you about any change by sending you an e-mail, separate written notice or by advertising on the Egg Site. The Accounts that you are able to access via your Egg Money Manager will change from time to time and we may remove Account Details from your Egg Money Manager at any time.

6.3 If we have good reason for doing so, we may, without notice, cancel or suspend your licence to use your Egg Money Manager at any time. We may in any event cease to provide your Egg Money Manager on reasonable notice, not being less than one month's notice.

6.4 We may transfer to any other person or business any or all of our rights under these terms and conditions at any time. We may do this without telling you.

6.5 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Does anyone know what Egg/Barclaycard's attitude is to merging 2 cards into one (including adding the credit limits together)?

My dad did it years ago with Egg but am wondering if it will still be possible.

Am tempted to close my Egg card and just keep the Egg Money one(which also looks nicer though that's not a factor!) - though I see the replacement fir the Egg card has a "Barclaycard Freedom" reward scheme..

    Regards

  • Not sure how this would affect it but Barclaycard have bought egg out I think. My hubby has an egg card and got a letter and barclaycard through the post last week explaining the situation.

Barclaycard are rubbish they have sent me 2 cards to replace my egg money and egg credit card but not said which card, so I am unsure which card gets the 1% cash back.

Also got a letter from egg saying they were closing my account and issuing a new card from the 1st Oct because of a security issue, still no new egg money card and the shops are still accepting it.

As soon as I get my £100 cash back I am closing the account, great move Barclays buying egg. One less customer for you:T:T
  • I just wanted to check if I were to try to transfer the money out into a bank account could this only be done if it were on the EGG money card rather than my other EGG card? I assume a positive balance can be on either? Annoyingly only the egg (rather than egg money) card has an outstanding balance.

Having tried this I can confirm you can have a positive balance on either card. I have not transferred the money out of the account though as I have a number of large purchases to make. I know this information has a limited life span due to the change in the cards but for now it works.

I would hazard a guess that the Barclays Mastercard replaces the egg Mastercard / egg money / egg blue; and that the Barclays Visa replaces the egg Visa / egg card / egg green.

Perhaps I am being too obvious?
