Good morning
Another cold one here today, DH is working from home so the heating will be on all day  Not that I want him to be cold but its nice to leave the heating off through the day during the week to save a few extra pennies!
I had a lovely Mothers Day, DS and DD were well behaved, no bickering and we all snuggled up, watched a movie and ate chocolate in the afternoon. Then DS and DD helped DH cook a sunday dinner whilst I supposedly chilled out. I find it difficult to sit still though so I ended up ironing a few bits of school uniform and making the pack ups. They had both made me cards and bought small presents, DD even brought me breakfast in bed - half a cup of lukewarm coffee with 2 hob nob biscuits, bless her
I need to take a look at the house insurance renewal (not due until May) but I think I can probably get it £30 per month cheaper, so its on the to-do list.
Dinner tonight is left over roast beef, jacket potatoes and some veg thats lurking in the fridge so a nice easy one.
List for today
Work hard - lots on
S&S bathrooms
Clean utility room
Set up a new file for my tried and tested recipes
Do a load of coloured washing
Help DS with his homework
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxx0 -
Morning Choo,
Glad you enjoyed mothers day, bless DD with the breakfast in bed!!!
Our home insurance renewal is due in May too!! Were with Legal and General and they are pretty cheap. Im sure you will sniff out the best deal!!!
Catch up soon xxMummytogirls x0 -
Good morning
Hi Mummy, yes I'll be scouring the internet looking for the best deal when its time.
This week has flown by! I had a good catch up meeting with my boss yesterday and he seems happy with me so I'll be mentioning a payrise in a few weeks time! I need to save up for the summer holiday and a few extra pounds would certainly help.
I did my grocery shopping yesterday, never a cheap experience but at least the fridge looks healthy again. I can't believe the cost of food. I stocked up on the cheap pasta from Mr A, alot was reduced to 50p last week and then when I visited again it was down to 35p so the cupboard is now well stocked with all sorts of pasta. It will keep DS happy, pasta is his favourite.
So my list for today:
1) Clean kitchen and family area
2) Tidy bedrooms
3) Clean bathrooms
4) Washing - not too much of it this week :j
I want to pop out and buy some e-cloths for cleaning the hob and glass today. I bought one for my windows last week and my goodness its revolutionary - no streaks or smears. I could rave about it all day long!
Dinner tonight is a recipe from Jamies 15 minutes cookbook - masala pork with rice and spring greens. DD has asked if we can bake some buns for Comic Relief so we'll do that after school.
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxx0 -

Good morning
I can't believe its over a week since I wrote on here. Thanks Mummy, yes fingers crossed it will be a good one x
Brrr its cold today, I popped to Mr A after dropping DD off at school and the wind was bitter. No snow yet but I'm sure it will arrive soon as the sky is white.
I think I've managed to stay within my food budget this month, maybe over by £5 but I'm pleased with that. I have let it slip abit and only had £30 left for this weeks shop. Normally I'd have bought what I fancied and made the difference up next month but I've had enough of constantly catching up so I went through the freezer and meal planned around what we have and managed a full week of meals and only bought staples this week.
Next month I'm going back to basics, meal planning for the week and make an extra couple of dishes or buy an extra pack of meat for the freezer, stash it away and then at the end of the month when funds are depleted I can do the same again. The cereals didn't get replenished this week, the kids can use up whats there and I'll buy new ones after payday.
Hopefully I can get to a point where I can defrost the freezer and have nothing lurking in there!
I was abit naughty the other day Dorothy Ps had a sale on, they had 2 dresses but I liked both of them, couldn't decide which one I liked best (so I bought both of them) To be fair though they were only £20 each so abit of a bargain really! One will be nice for work and the other is a going out dress. DH just doesn't seem to be taking the hint though about taking me out! :rotfl:
So onto today, I need to give mine and DHs bathroom a good blitz. I did the cupboards out the other day so now I need to give the tiles a good wipedown, clean the shower runner (I hate that job its so hard to get it clean)
List for today
Hoover DS bedroom
S&S kids bathroom
S&S office
Clean my bedroom
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxx0 -
Good morning
I am so sick of this weather now, I wish I could hibernate and come out when the sun arrives!
I bought a handheld steam cleaner the other month, shoved it into a cupboard and remembered about it last week when I wanted to deep clean the shower. All I can say is it was amazing, the grout grime disappeared with a quick wipe instead of scrubbing and its all gleaming again! I might try it on the dishwasher this morning.
I need to pop to Mr A and buy some easter eggs, I bought some mini easter treats from M&* yesterday for the easter egg hunt, the kids will probably still insist on a hunt when they are way to old for it but who cares?
Work was busy this week, I've mentioned a payrise and an increase in hours, my immediate boss doesn't think they'll be a problem but he needs to speak to the big boss to get the nod so fingers crossed.
I could do with buying a few more bits for the kitchen and this would help. It would also help to build up a more healthy monthly surplus than we currently have as the extra mortgage borrowing for the extension dramatically reduced our once very healthy surplus.
Jobs for today
Pop to shop for a few bits and pieces
Clean the house
Washing and ironing
Right better get DD off to school, shes currently winding the cat up and it doesn't sound like he's having much fun!
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxx0 -
Hi choo!
I'm kind of back lol I haven't been on since the last time i posted so should really give myself a little kick up the behind ! I do much better when I'm on here reading like-minded peoples' diaries
My sister had a steam cleaner and used it for everything, it's on my list to get when i'm debt free  ! (next to a new dishwasher which died last year, and a tumble drier which died last month!)
I hope your easter egg hunt went well and the kids got lots of chocolateMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34

Good afternoon
Hi DFW, the kids loved the easter egg hunt, its lovely to watch them as its the only time of year that they work together on something without bickering!
The wind today is so cold, its sunny but man its a cold wind, at least the washings getting a good blow outside.
Easter was good, we had friends round for a meal, which went really well. All four kids ate well and the wine flowed so what more do you need?
We've been to the cinema this morning to the £1.75 film and took our own chocolates.
This afternoon is going to be spent sorting out DD clothes, hopefully finding a few for ebay but mostly just to have a good clearout ready for the sun if it ever arrives! Theres so much stuff in her room and its really starting to bug me. She has loads of toys and books that shes got too old for so it needs sorting.
Dinner tonight is chili, rice and garlic bread, all made and just needs heating up.
Quidco car insurance money has tracked so that will be an extra £22 to add to the shoe fund.
Jobs for this afternoon
Muck out DD bedroom
Peg more washing out
Ironing
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxx0
