Good afternoon
Pennywise, I love our wood burning stove but we tend to use it on an evening and let the heating go off at 6.30pm so even though the house is cold on an evening the lounge is toasty warm. I've been well wrapped up in bed a few nights as well- fleecy pjs, socks, double layers.
Hi Abba, lovely to see you will pop across to your diary later xxx0 -
Good morning
I never got a chance to finish my diary entry yesterday as DH was shouting "its lunchtime at me"
So it was a busyish weekend, I got most of the jobs done off my list. The bedroom didn't take the two of us long to do but there were alot of dust bunnies. I should be able to keep it clean and tidy now, its just abit demotivating to start tackling it on my own especially when half the carp there isn't mine. DH hadn't even managed to put some of his christmas presents away so I was bugg**ed if I was going to do it for him. He'd also just left his overnight bag dumped in the corner next to the cupbaord it needed to go in!
My heads spinning again, I need to save up for the summer holiday the flights are all paid for but we need spending money, car hire and accomodation not to mention all the incidentals that add up ie cattery, overnight accomodation and food for the night before etc.
DH is twittering about new suits again! This seems to be a common recurrence on my diary about this time of year, my response was sell something and use that money to buy one! I can go without or manage to sell things if I want something so why can't he?
DH is also making noises about swapping my car, there are too many things going on in my head at the moment to think about that so it will have to wait. Theres so many factors ie payrise, DH company is to introduce a company car scheme so we need to wait and see if this will have any impact on us and I need to save up for the summer holiday!
DS is also making noise about going on a week long scout camp in the summer holidays at about £125, this is fine but I need to save for that as well!
I did manage to find my car insurance on quidco cheaper with £30 cashback so I need to sort that out tonight!!
And relax, rant over I'd better get some work done xxx0 -
Good morning
Just updating my Pennys challenge, £48.76 made from ebay sales.
Abit gutted about one of the items selling cost but hey ho, its been sat gathering dust for almost a year and its cleared some space so I've got to think positively!0 -
Morning Choo,
Sounds like youve got lots of money things going on at the moment!! Ha I remember the suit thing with DH last year. Maybe for Christmas you could get him a GV for the suit place and then its covered to save reoccurence next year!!!
xxMummytogirls x0 -
Good morning
Mummy a GV sounds a good idea, I suggested M&S to him and the reponse was they're not long enough! Anyway the suit debate has been left at he needs to sell some golf clubs that he promised he'd sell last year, never got round to selling them but still bought new ones so if he wants a new suit the money has to be raised by himself!
So onto today, its lovely and sunny :j I have four loads of washing to do, so I'll get it all out onto the line, although I refuse to peg underwear out in this weather they can all get thrown into the tumble dryer until the weather gets warmer to stand outside for longer.
DH has requested an apple pie for tea so I need to dig some stewed apple out of the freezer and defrost that. I'm also making Gordon Ramsays pizzas with potato wedges and a rocket, red onion and tomato salad for tea tonight.
I've tried 3 new recipes this week, 2 were received very well by DH and DD, DS just moaned about them but nothing new there.
My new meal plan strategy is
Mon - tried and tested recipe
Tues - slow cooker meal as its a busy night with after school activities
Weds - veggie recipe or risotto
Thurs - new recipe
Fri - cheap and cheerful or pasta (use up stuff night)
Sat - curry or a new recipe
Sun - roast or a new recipe
Hopefully this will take the pressure out of thinking up what to eat all the time.
Todays plan
1) Washing
2) Blitz DH and mine bathroom
3) Pop out this afternoon and buy some new crockery using my xmas vouchers but will replace with cash so that I can save this into my very posh (expensive) shoe fund sat at £70 at the moment, but needs to be £300+ before I can purchase.
4) Look for a new lamp table for the hall, really missing our lamp in the hall as the old table is now in the spare room.
I think that lot should keep me out of mischief, hope everyone has a lovely day xxxx0 -
Oh i forgot I renewed my car insurance - £40 cheaper than my renewal notice and £20 cashback through Quidco!
The £20 will be stashed into my shoe fund when it arrives x0 -
Morning Choo,
Sounds very positive and focused as always!!!
Loving the meal strategy, very well planned xxMummytogirls x0 -
Good Morning
Hi Mummy, thanks for popping by x
So it was a busy weekend catching up on home stuff. The Gordon Ramsay pizzas were delicious and were well worth the effort making them. I also made a chicken recipe out of Gordons sunday lunches book yesterday which was well received but DS moaned that he doesn't really like chicken as its dry!! My chicken is never dry, I think he'd be happy having a variety of something cheap, frozen and disgusting with chips every night, but that is never going to happen.
Its so cold again today, I don't know what to wear on a day to day basis as the weathers so changeable.
I had a re-jig of the finances yesterday, our electric/gas dd has been increased by £31 per month!! Hopefully it will decrease again over the summer months and I've turned the thermostat down and changed the timer to come on an hour later in the afternoon. DS and DD are been encouraged to take a shower instead of baths to reduce the amount of hot water been used.
I think thats all from me, hope everyone has a lovely day xx0 -
Good morning
No washing out on the line today its too overcast and no breeze so I think I'd be wasting my time!
So its a day at home today and I need to get some housework and washing done, but so far I've spent the majority of my morning running round for someone and have only just managed to have some elevenses!
So the plan for today is
Quick dash and tidy round
Change DS and DD bedding
Washing
Do some self employed work tonight
Run round to various activities
I noticed Mons**n have a mid season sale on so I might go for a look tomorrow after I've done the school run. I never seem to get a minute to myself at the moment as theres always something to be done at home.
I really need to wash the windows outside and I've bought a new glass e-cloth but its too cold outside at the moment so they'll have to wait.
Not much else to report, the meal planning worked well this week. Its great not having to think about what genre of meal we're having I can just choose from a selection or chosen recipe book and it took me next to no time.
Right better go and make a start xx0
