    Good Afternoon

Another busy day catching up with jobs at home, its lovely and sunny so we should be out having a walk or something but both the kids are busy playing with friends so it seems a shame to take them out when they're having a lovely time.

Been having a think about the whole savings siituation, we'd really like to contribute something towards Uni costs when the time arises so thats something else to factor in along the way.

For now though my intital thoughts are

Open an ISA and save £100 a month - this money can not be touched under any circumstances. The amount being saved each month can obviously be changed if need be but any deposits made need to stay put.

Any future bonuses that DH may earn are to be paid straight off the mortgage

DH sharesave scheme which we pay in to every month is to be preserved and used for University costs

Money generated from my future business over and above what I currently earn is to be used for house improvement costs

Continue to have our savings account for big one off costs such as holidays and christmas

Continue to have our savings account for expenses that occur more regularly such as car expenses etc

It all sounds so simple when its wrote down :rotfl:

    Good Evening

I have finally taken the plunge and listed a few items on Ebay, lets see how that goes. Any money made from ebaying will be going in to the business start up fund.

Pack ups are made, shoes cleaned, uniforms out, ironing done and now we're watching Grand Designs, will have a piece of yummy cake and coffee soon.

    Catch up soon

    Good Afternoon

    Where did the weekend go?

I feel abit depressed that its Monday and the start of another working week. Only 100 days until Christmas  must start having a serious think and start some lists as to what I'm going to be purchasing for everyone this year.

Its a busy day at work today but I am lacking motivation, I need to go and buy myself a nice warm chunky cardigan for the office as there is a definite chill in the air today.

Tonights job is to reconcile the spreadsheet back to the bank account and see what this months damage is.

I'm also going to look into opening an ISA and then set up a standing order to transfer the money across every month in the same way that the bill money gets transferred. No excuse then for not saving anything.

    Better get on xx
  • Your financial strategy sounds very thorough, just wanted to say I hope you are allowing some fun money in there too. You have worked so hard to get out of debt (and DH too!) so I hope there is some room for enjoying yourselves as well :)

inspirational stuff though, especially all that baking. I MUST have a day like that - will really help me out over the coming weeks, especially now it's getting colder so I'm craving chilli, lasagne etc :D

    Good Evening

Lionheartedgirl - there is fun money included in the budget which includes a holiday budget, going out money, clothes money and pocket money for DH and myself. I am not going to deprieve us of fun money but we do need to start saving just a little.
I love the sentiment of life is for living now and theres no point in been the richest corpse in the graveyard but having a little something saved also won't do any harm.

The bank account has been analysed and reconciled back and its not looking too bad, DH gets paid Friday and I get paid next week so we should be ok. The grocery budget was overspent by £30 which is a huge improvement on previous months so I can't complain too much. As said previously the freezers are full so we should be able to stay within budget during October.

I have 2 watchers on my ebay items :j

Hope everyone has a good evening xx

    Good Morning

Didn't sleep too well last night, something is really bothering me at the moment which really shouldn't be as the person involved means F all to me but its just a very childish situation and the person involved needs to grow up! I'm so annoyed with myself for letting it bother me and worse still affect my sleep.

I now have 4 watchers on ebay but no bids yet, they are all due to end on Sunday so plenty of time yet.

I have been given the opportunity to work on another small project at work which means some extra pennies can be earnt at home and will be ploughed into paying for my laptop.

I applied for an ISA last night and we have a small amount left over from our entertainment budget from last month so I'm going to save that and anything else that can be saved throughout the month through frugal/tightness will also be added to the ISA.

Its tuna sandwiches and a cuppa soup for lunch today, I was feeling fed up with myself so turned to my usual comfort food of chocolate for my elevnses instead of the usual cereal bar or fruit - Bad choogirl
  • Sorry that something has bothered you and is keeping you awake, i find i'm like that, a !!!!!y comment made by someone, or someone doing something to annoy me or my children can niggle at me for days and work me up.

Have a rant and try and get it out of your system i sometime find that works.

Pennywise - thanks thats exactly how I feel, I don't take much notice of the comment at the time and then go away and stew about it which in turn winds me up and invariably upsets me.
Anyway the person involved is not worth getting upset about so I'm not spending anymore time stewing over it. I've spoken in great length to DH about the situation and he says I overthink things too much.

Well there is a definite nip in the air today, time to dig out the warmer coat, scarf and possibly gloves. The winter duvet will be going on this weekend and a visit to the cash and carry is on the cards to stock up abit on some tins etc.

I made a pork casserole last night in the slow cooker and the kids gobbled it all up and asked for seconds  Its amazing as DS won't eat stew but call it casserole and pretend its a Rick Stein recipe and wahoo it's a winner!

At lunchtime I need to take a school jumper back to M&S as there is a small hole starting to appear near the cuff, the jumpers been worn for less than 3 weeks so its going back.

I've taken a curry out of the freezer for dinner tonight so we'll have some rice and naan breads with it, a nice easy tea for a work night.

The meal plan during the winter for working days is going to consist of one slow cooker meal, one pre-made frozen meal and an easy pasta dish. On the 2 days that I don't work I will have more time and be able to spend more time cooking something more elaborate.

    Time to get working xxx
