lil_me wrote:The grill pan where you put the food ? I do mine as soon as it's used and rarely needs scrubbing (tend to use my George) but when I got my cooker recently (second hand) I soaked it in the bath, for probably 1/2 hour ish maybe longer (only place big enough) with very hot water and a cup full of soda crystals. Muck just fell off when I wiped over it. A lot use tin foil on the pan to save as much scrubbing as it just lifts out and then wash it.
no that bit i can cope with the joined to the oven bit where the heat comes from you kind of have to poke your head in to see it - does that make sense?? and i hope my grill pan wouldn't have muck fall off like that :eek:0 -
The elements, only ever cleaned them with water and a sponge myself, when cold of course and switched off. Don't think you can use oven cleaners etc on them. One day I might be more organised...........

I've always found the turning the grill on full with nothing cooking helps - it should burn off all the fat and muck that's built up - might be a bit smokey and smelly for a bit but will help."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

And a big thanks for the pm, your generosity brought a tear to my eye.it's because you're run down with the 'flu and your eyes leaked
What great girls you have there :T :T
scaredy cat - long time since I've had an electric cooker, but when I did, I would wipe them over with a solution of warm washing up water and then wipe over again with a damp sponge in plain clear water (that way I'd know that if the water was still clean, the elements were too plus it meant nothing toxic was left on the elements). Don't use a scourer of any kind (even the scourer side of a sponge) because it might damage the elements.
pam - hoping your dh is successful in his lorry hunting!
Well, I've impressed myself this evening :rotfl: The "leftovers" curry went down a storm!! So now the fridge is purged of a handful of cold new potatoes, the remains of some soup, a handful of peas, some chickpeas and a few prawns! Good job too because I need to give the fridge a clean out on Monday (bin men early hours Tuesday, so the fridge always needs a sort out on a Monday) and it looks like it could do with a bit of a defrost too. The nut crackers I made (from a dried packet, similar to prawn crackers) were not so successful - but that's mainly because d12yo "greedy guts" was scoffing handfuls as they drained and while I was cooking the rest and so his tummy was a layer of freshly cooked crackers/oil before he even began his meal  silly boy! He'll learn the hard way
And that is all the OS'ing I intend to do today! Now it's *my* time~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well my early night worked, not! DH did put DD to bed and then fell asleep on the sofa so I had to load the dishwasher, load the washing machine and tumble dryer. Wash up etc etc. I'm now feeling a little more awake so I'm going to sit down with my sewing kit and adjust DD's school trousers.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
