  • :Hey

Hugs to all those who need them :grouphug:

Valentine - thinking of you, I lost a friend earlier this year and really learnt the value of chill out time.

thule - Welcome, I joined this about a month ago and have really come to value the community spirit that goes on here

Lillibet - Happy Birthday!! hope you have a fab day :)

Had a bit of a rough night last night the wind kept me awake for hours and I was half expecting to wake up in Kansas this morning!!

Despite not having much sleep have had quite a productive day so far :rotfl: have managed to aquire some boxes for my packing... had been starting to loose hope as all the supermarkets seem to crush them now and was expecting to have to buy one of those over priced moving packs from safestore.

Have made Orange and Pineapple jellies for my lunch next week and will be putting the slow cooker on in a bit to make a bean stew :)

I've got a friend of a friend coming round soon to look at how much stuff I have to move and if they can fit it in their van. If they can do the job it should work out about £585 less than the other quotes it had  so heres keeping fingers crossed :) might be having a mass clear out later!!

Watched the 'Grow your own veg' programme on BBC 2 last night and have decided to grow as much stuff of my own as I can this year. Have started the garlic off in the fridge (recommendation form another thread) and got a cheeps plant pot to get it potted up tomorrow... weather permitting.

Right brew breaks over :coffee: best get back to the boxes and bubble wrap!!

    take care all

    tink x

    Afternoon all

Feeling lousy today, as is DH think we'd both underestimated how low proper flu can make you feel.

DD1 had her entry exam for the local girls school today - she said it was ok - don't get the results until the 1st of March so will just put to the back of our minds until then. DD2 is doing some sewing from a kit she got for xmas so all is peacful.

Crazychick - I love that buzz game too - we have to spend the best part of 20 mins chosing the monkeys clothes and names first and then turning the volume up full to appreciate the music.

Moggins - Glad your DD is feeling better - have you thought about keep a food diary for her - if she's suffering from repeated tummy upsets then maybe it's something she's eating/drinking?

Lillibet - Happy birthday - hope your dinner party goes well tonight.

Have a good afternoon and evening all.

Managed to pick up a couple of bargains when I was out and about this morning, a reduced joint of leg of lamb that'll do nicely for tomorrow's dinner  plus D12yo needed a new pair of studs, so I went looking for those while he trained. Not only got his studs but also 2 tops, 2 prs footie socks and 2 hats all for less than the studs would have cost  Bargain!
Met "Mr Jobsworth" in 'Game' where d11yo had trotted off to so he could trade in some older games. Difference was, he wanted the cash and not the credit value. They told him I had to be there ... *Queenie trots off and joints son* :) ... then they ask for my passport (funny that! I had it on me :D ) and then a utiliy bill ... ... er ... nopey! But we are on their computer with our loyalty card if they wanted proof of our addreess :) Driving license? Er ... nopey!! So, a 'discussion' took place ;)
Long story short, he did (eventually) agree to give us the cash and he clearly couldn't resist his parting shot of "make sure you bring the right documents next time" :naughty:
Next time????? What 'next time'!!!!???? :rotfl: :rotfl:
I have to say, I do feel rather miffed that we've reached a stage where we (the customers) are presumed 'guilty' of intent to commit crime ... unless we can prove ourselves with photo ID and address!!!! LUDICROUS!!! If I were endeavouring to pass off stolen goods a) I wouldn't take my 11yo son with me, b)wouldn't draw attention to myself by querying their policy and c) certainly not in a store where the girl 2 doors away from me works!! :wall:
Still, we all comfort ate a really "dribbly down yer chin" bacon and yolky egg bab when we got home

Tonight is a curry made from all the little bits of leftovers in the fridge.

Been thinking about your DD and her 11+/extry exam. Really hope she achieves her goals ((hugs)) Oh, and good luck with her SATS too! (Ridiculous that she will have those to do as well!) I had all this last year and the year before with my two so I can empathise. Only difference was, the lads didn't have to sit an "entry" exam. But they did take one within weeks of starting in the Sept. at their chosen school.

Hope you and dh recover fully soon - I did warn you it'll knock you off your feet ((hugs)).

The grill pan where you put the food ? I do mine as soon as it's used and rarely needs scrubbing (tend to use my George) but when I got my cooker recently (second hand) I soaked it in the bath, for probably 1/2 hour ish maybe longer (only place big enough) with very hot water and a cup full of soda crystals. Muck just fell off when I wiped over it. A lot use tin foil on the pan to save as much scrubbing as it just lifts out and then wash it.
One day I might be more organised...........

You're not kidding - it really has knocked us both for 6.....I'm just really pleased that I've taught DD's how to do basic cooking and housework duties - they've been invaluable - they've made their own dinner tonight - oven chips, cold meats and salad with garlic bread, they've even cleared the kitchen after themselves and I got brought a glass of wine without asking (not sure I can drink it but was lovely of them to think about me)

And a big thanks for the pm, your generosity brought a tear to my eye.
