Halifax Reward Current account

  • Nothing stopping you from cycling the same £1,000 across several accounts if you are lucky enough to hold more than one reward account :)

My pay goes into Lloyds TSB, then 1k is cycled across 3 vantage accounts and then onto the halifax reward account and back into Lloyds again.

I agree with you, however OP insists that his/her account receives the reward whether he credits the account with 1K or not!

i was thinking about opening on of these but i read somewhere that if you don't put in your £1000 every month, you will pay a £3 fee.. is this true?

    No.

You will only pay fees on this account if you go overdrawn.

I've just applied for one, I couldn't find any mention of fees in the T&Cs - where did you see this?

I'm planning on setting up a couple of standing orders (to transfer the money in and out every month) so I'm planning on avoiding any charges, admin fees, etc. anyway.

    Be very careful.

I assume you're allowing a few days between them to cover for weekends, Bank Holidays, and other obstacles? Or maybe you're planning on using an overdraft to cover such events?...in which case the £1 a day fees will eat into your £5 Reward somewhat.

I have been doing this for a while now, but would I be correct in thinking that SOs between Halifax and/or BOS accounts are no longer being sent on weekends now they are operating the Lloyds system?

My SOs have never been sent over the weekends from Halifax, plus it takes up to 3 working days to hit recipient's acct. Thought this was supposed to be sent by FP but guess not.

Stupid question... I've got a Reward account, but I understand can have a joint one too. Any idea where on the site I can open a joint one? Or do I have to drag the wife to a branch?

Up till this month our SOs from one Halifax or BOS account to another Halifax or BOS account always went out on the requested date, whether weekday or weekend, and always arrived immediately in the receiving account......more like an instant internal transfer really, but set up by me as a SO.

Now that seems to have changed, though this month only 2 of them were affected. I have cancelled all these SOs between our savings and Reward accounts and will make manual transfers in future.

Pity, so much hassle involved, especially when we are away and may not have easy internet access for 2 or 3 weeks.
  • Am I able to move the £1,000 into a halifax online saver. then for the next month put it back into the reward current account and still get the £5??

Yes, the plan is to leave a gap of at least a couple of weeks between the SOs just to make sure I avoid any fees. SOs with the Halifax seem to be pretty unreliable anyway.
