Halifax Reward Current account

  • On the subject of FP, tomorrow is payday and I'm wondering if halifax now accepting FP into and out of the reward account? I know they were having problems earlier in the week following their system upgrades and payments were going via BACS instead for some reason.

Working for me now, I think I've noticed a speed increase too! Money arrived in Santander even before the Halifax payment page finished loading!
  • FP from Lloyds TSB into Halifax.

Login to Halifax, money shows up straight away.
    FP from Halifax to Lloyds
Log back into Lloyds - money is back

2nd of the month, log into Halifax, transfer my free £5 over to Lloyds TSB

    Simple as.

I just leave a £1 in the reward account to keep it open, it pays no interest but love the free fiver!
I hope you don't think i'm being clever, but it's even better now, Halifax/ BOS to Ltsb goes as an internal transfer, just transfered from BOS to LTSB, instant. Job done, no more concerns regarding FP limits.

I think I'm correct in saying that Halifax now uses Lloyds FP system, so you can make SO payments via FP up to £25,000 as well now.

Set a SO to transfer £1000 in on the 2nd, set a SO to transfer £1005 out out the same day - no login required?

    Weekend and Bank Holiday foolproof?

What if the fivers are paid on the 3rd of the month or later? (T&Cs say they can pay it anytime before the 10th of the month).

I think I'll stick with my manual transfers once I've seen the fivers credited. :)

Spose you could do mid month just as easily but you're right, still tricky. Shame this country doesn't do rent and a pay on a fortnightly basis like it is back home in NZ. Makes things a lot more predictable!

We'd still have a potential problem when Easter came around. ;)

Unless you've O/D facilities on the Reward accounts* it's better to stick to manual payments in my opinion.

    * And even then, the £1 a day fees would eat into/wipe out the profits.

    How do you do that?

I have a LTSB account that I pay into from my Halifax Reward account as a payment.

How do I set it up as a transfer instead.?

I'd imagine you set the payment up as pay a person, but it goes as a transfer now rather than a payment. Haven't tried it yet.
  • can this also be done from a halifax savings account to the halifax current account or does it have to come from an outside account. I understand you can now do it using FP from LTSB to halifax but i've not seen anyone do it from within the two halifax accounts.
