I think he may be pleasantly surprised though as it does now seem to be the standard card that is sent out. i.e. I did not ask for it, they did not credit search me for it, and they sent me one on my last card renewal.
Ok well we'll go to a branch tomorrow.
We know the card is embossed atleast which sorts out our local problem. Lets just hope the card works on trains/planes etc.0 -
To be honest I have wondered why the orange card is contactless and is issued by Barclays but Barclays cash accounts can not have contactless cards odd isnt it .......
Barclays website states contactless debit cards are subject to status and application which would mean to me you have to be credit scored or be pre approved for one.
I guess its another one of lifes mysteries...
PS Im only paid peanuts :rotfl:
And on that. Maybe Barclays doesn't want to waste the money on those customers haha? Those NFC chips probably don't come cheap.0 -

Well their debit card certainly works on trains, don't see why it would not work on planes either. Cannot say I've used them on planes, but I would assume the same technology is used there.0 -
Lloyds TSB only give contactless cards out at the moment to people within the M25 border.
The info that comes with the Debit Card for the Under 19's account states that due to the nature of Debit Cards it is possible that the account could go overdrawn if the account does not have any money in, but of course they will not charge.
If authorisation can be obtained at the time of the transaction then if no money is in the account then yes it should be declined.
As others have said, it's when an offline transaction needs to be completed i.e on trains where it will always go through and could take the account overdrawn as the banks don't know about these until it does hit the account in 2/3 days.David
