The card is a full visa debit card with contactless and can be used on or offline, the card details and numbers are embossed on the card, i.e. they are not printed on, so your ancient zipzaper will still work with them.0 -

Ah he will be pleased then. I'll take him down to the nearest branch soon then. I'm surprised they do that tbh. Puts santander to shame haha. Seems like they don't trust anyway.
The contact less looks decent actually. I wish my card had it. Seen a lot of retailers with it recently.0 -

I doubt the bank would issue an offline contactless debit card to a minor. As a contactless card is deemed as a credit facility as this could make you go overdrawn etc.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Are they likely to know? Santander don't normally haha0 -
They will be able to confirm what cards are given out, as the site says 16-19yr olds get a visa debit card and as they appear to only offer contactless ones now I'd have thought that's what you'd get.
But a call to them would confirm it. Call them on 01733 347 0070 -
Well that was an interesting phone call. Their not sure...I'd have to go into a branch but I'd rather know before as I'd have to drive us a fair 45 mins each way to get to the nearest Lloyds TSB branch.
Someone here must have a son/daughter with the account haha0
