Two weeks money = money for week 1 and then money for week 2, if people are unable to control their urges and splash the cash in a day, tough.
Bet you wouldn't do it the next month when you have sod all live on.
Exactly, hence why people should be encouraged to control their own money and budget. But hey, apparently by that I mean people with mental health issues are dumb *rolls eyes*If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Actually thinking about it these changes aren't coming in for a few years right? If i'm still on benefits by then please someone kill me (if i haven't done it myself). Just going to hope the nhs pull their finger out and give me the treatment i need so i can be on my merry way and be a useful member of soceity again. Though all this is pointless if i suceed in 3 weeks anyway :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

kind of response id expect of you
but ill bite how many people on a normal wage can make there wages last 4 weeks ( not many) hence the rise in payday loan companiesReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Paying monthly would cause all sorts of problems.
Did people manage from weekly to fortnightly payments, yes they did. Have they got used to being paid fornightly rather than weekly, yes they have.I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!0 -
because its longer i know alot of people on benefits that have bills to pay on a card they have to be paid weekly
if it were me id be screwed because
ive got an electric meter and i could not put a months worth of pound coins in it (as it dont allow )
Then you put them in weekly.Being paid monthly does not mean that you have to put a months worth of money in at once.
Without meaning any offence (and I honestly mean that) you have just highlighted the need for people to get used to planning monthly.
Also,an electric meter with coins?really,I didn't realise they still exsisted!Used to count all the money up from them when I was 5 and my dad worked for a landlord and used to empty them.I thought they were long goneIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

A huge amount of people do manage, many of them still have plenty left over for the next month too, many also save money.Thing is,those who can't make their money last 4 weeks would likely still have the same problem if paid weekly, the frequency doesn't matter for them.
What is important though is that people get used to having more financial control and planning because it will ultimately be easier when they move to work (no sudden switch and extra adjustment in lifestyle) but also, should help them anyway as they'll have to watch their money more to ensure they don't go daft and leave themselves with nothing for the rest of the month. It may be a hard lesson for a lot of people to start with (I'm betting there are quite a few people who in their first jobs went and splashed their first paycheck rather quickly just because they had it too - I know I did:o lovely diamond ring though:rotfl::rotfl:) but it's an important one.Being in control of your own affairs is also good for self esteem -something many people on benefits struggle with for one reason or another.
So,to me,it can only be see as a good thingIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0
