I read exactly what you meant, and you have confirmed it clearly above.
Please don't patronize people with mental illnesses who have manic episodes: its tantamount to patting someone on the head. Maybe we should round all mentally ill people up and give them an abacus, maybe you could show people how to use it?
Why would people who receive benefits "not be able to budget" and need to "learn the skill" many people know exactly how to budget but obviously cannot if for example, a manic episode takes hold.
This is why I suggested you read up on mania as clearly your understanding is basic at best.
Oh for heavens sake.I think ALL people on benefits should get used to the monthly planning because when they move into work (as should be their hope, even for the ill I'm sure they'd hope that one day they'd be able to) they will be paid monthly,so it serves a purpose to all of them.Nothing to do with the fact that some of them have mental health issues at all!!!
A lot of people on weekly/fortnightly payment do actually struggle too.
I also think that monthly payments would result in a decline in applications for crisis loans. It's much easier if there is a monthly payment and they can from the whole months money set aside what is NEEDED and then,if there is somethign that comes up they have their entire months money there to pay for it,rather than what frequently happens now -person gets paid weekly or fornightly, uses all of that money or a lot of it,something comes up and they think 'but I can't pay until next week or the week after',goes through the hassle of getting a crisis loan then reduced weekly benefit payments. If they had their whole months money there in the first place,if they had been wise with the money (ie not gone out and spent it all at once, which may actually happen to some lol) then they would be able to sort it themselves without making phonecalls and borrowing.
Again, before you jump up on some idiotic high horse,I have said nothing about getting used to monthly money being anything to do with mental illness. If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Paying monthly would cause all sorts of problems.
Not least because it helps to be paid fortnightly, because you know if the money is not in, on a fortnightly basis rather than monthly, so can sort out problems quicker.
For example, we never received our last benefit payment, no reason, no excuses, just 'it didnt go through' and a giro had to be sent.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

And of course, the people who 'accidentally' lose their money and claim a crisis loan, will be claiming even bigger crisis loans for a full months worth now, instead of a fortnights, meaning they get into even bigger debt.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

How would being paid 4 weekly or monthly make a difference to you in that sense?
err im not on benefits so i suppose it would ot affect me but i ahve been in the past and it would make life harderReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. Possibly, but firstly there can't be many of them and secondly,I'm not sure anyone would believe people had lost their entire months money(I would say that would have been easier to try if they still paid by giro or book but then they'd know it'd been cashed lol).If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Ok,then imagine if you still were, how would it make life harder?I honestly don't see how.You said because it was hard enough to make it stretch 2 weeks nevermind 4,so I don't understand the difference tbh, hence asking. If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Two weeks money = money for week 1 and then money for week 2, if people are unable to control their urges and splash the cash in a day, tough.
Bet you wouldn't do it the next month when you have sod all live on.I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!0 -
