Just to update you, after months of waiting for documents and waiting for the vendor to come back from holiday, the sale completed today.
Thanks so much to everyone who commented on this thread or shared their experiences elsewhere. Whilst the experience was still one of the most stressful of my life, the support did help.
I'm picking up the keys tomorrow and will finally have somewhere to call home again after 3 months on the road!0 -

What did you do for the 3 months in limbo, out of interest? Live with parents? Glad it all worked out!"The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0

I stayed at my Mum's Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night, working from there on Mondays.
Tuesday I'd get up at 5 and commute into London. Then I'd stay with friends in St Albans Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'd work from the office in Herts whenever I could and if I had a really late finish/early start in London then I stayed with my friend in Balham.
My cat lived with my Mum and I took most of Christmas off. When my friend broke her hand I did babysitting and grandparent sitting to help out (that whole situation was v complicated).
I've been incredibly lucky to have such supportive friends and family, but all the travelling and never having more than a few items of your own with you has been tiring.
If I'd known it was going to take so long I would have rented somewhere, but was reassured by all involved it would only be a couple of weeks.
Very glad to have a roof to call my own!0
