It`s probably ok, sniff it and see.
Having said that if it is a week old that would put me off but also consider that shops and supermarkets sell fresh soups that have no preservatives and have decent dates on them.
I think that the sniff test will let you know one way or the other really.

When you make more just shove it in the freezer.

I used to make a gallon of veg soup every weekend, and then take a flask of it to work all week. sometimes used to add chillis on thursdays to take away the boredom.

I arent ded.. and I never got sick. (well no worse than usual).

I think you should be ok as long as you heat it thoroughly

  • Hi there, just a quickie if I may - went on holiday recently and as there was a new pack of Tesco beef slices in the fridge thought at the time, rather than throw them out, I'll throw them in the freezer. I have now come to get them out to defrost to make my sons buns for holiday club tomorrow, and notice that the pack doesn't say that it can be frozen - yikes! I don't want to kill him! Has anyone done this before or should I just put it down to experience and throw them? Thanks.
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is, unless its from this forum!

They won't be dangerous as far as germs, salmonella etc are concerned. However, freezing may have altered the texture and/or taste and so may not be palatable.

Best suggestion is to allow them to defrost overnight in a fridge and taste them.

I'd use them (but would probably sieve the contents of the packets first to make sure no little bugs had gnawed their way in there!)

They might take a bit longer to cook, sometimes the skinsgo tough.
I would eat them....well, I'd feed them to Miss Twit. ;)

I take it the date says 'best before' not 'use by'. BB = eat at any time, UB = probably don't?

I'd use them! Definitely. As WAT said, I'd keep an eye on cooking times, but I'm sure they'll be fine.
