So the "recommendation" was a sales pitch! Disgusting .... the one you've chosen sounds much better.
Glad it was okay for you to be at the cemetery.
But how can Virgin do that? How can they be allowed to use a DD that you've cancelled? Isn't that your bank thats also at fault? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr on your behalf2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC - Virgin didn't use a DD I'd cancelled, but I have previously cancelled because they keep changing the date, only by a day, but that matters a lot when you juggle money between accounts. I set it up again, reluctantly, having been assured that it would be OK and you can't choose the date initially. Once the first DD has been paid, you can change the date, so I did. But they keep taking it on the default date. So its getting cancelled again, but then there is a charge for not paying by DD.

Oops! Another week has gone by! Where to?
In my defence, I left the house on Monday lunchtime to drive to Cornwall, no wi fi signal in the hotel, and no mobile coverage. Since then I've been home for a sleep, then drove to Glasgow. In the middle of all that it was Mum's birthday, so been a strange week.
Money - payday has been and gone. I'm trying not to do a 'big' shop, will use up the contents of the freezer and then do a 'huge' shop before Christmas.
So far today have spent £12, I've got a £240 expense claim waiting to be paid, so when that comes, will re-imburse myself for fuel used, and put the rest on spare card to pay for fuel for next week. Well that's the plan.
I've cancelled the virginmedia dd again, and will just pay it when I get paid in December, which means I've got extra money this month, as its already gone out.
Have invited friend and her OH to spend Christmas with us, and she has said yes, so we will have a lovely chilled time, just us, doing nothing much.

Morning
the weekend is here again, so time for a bit of money stuff.
Met up with brother and sister last weekend, very bizarre had coffee and mince pies in the cemetery next to Dad's grave while saying goodbye to Mum. We also sorted out the last of the financial side. Mum had no money as such, lived in rented accommodation, so her financial affairs were relatively easy; last weekend we split the balance of her savings account between us. There wasn't much money but there was enough that each of the grandchildren can buy themselves something to remember her by, and we each have something too.
So I've bought a new table and chairs. I did have a large dining room table that had belonged to Mum and Dad, but got rid of that along with Mum's stuff as it was way too big for me. I've now bought a small drop leaf table and chairs, did think about getting folding chairs but they weren't comfortable enough. At least this table doesn't take up much space, and can just pack away against a wall when not in use.
That leaves me with £150 - not sure what to spend it on yet, but its NOT going to pay off debt. I don't think that would be right.
Other money stuff.
Cash in purse - £24.50
Bank £364 - all DD's have gone out. Need roughly £40 a week for gas and electric for next 3 weekends, so that leaves £244 for food and fuel. I've got Scotland, Cornwall and Scotland again, so its not enough for the petrol, so will put an expenses claim in - I think its around £150 at the moment.
This is also the weekend when I empty the 'slummy jar' so there is probably about £35 in that, will use it for goodies for Christmas.
Christmas food ie. meat, veg ordered from Farm, nibbles ordered from M&S so only need to pick up some bits. I'm off the last few days before Christmas so can wander round the local shops, weather permitting.
It's only 3 weeks away:eek: where's my list gone!

Right, so now I'm annoyed.
**!@@!!!!!****
Bingo site have frozen my account until I send them proof of ID. This assumption that everyone possesses a scanner and so can just scan and send copies of things. Obviously I'm not going to randomly send ID stuff in the post. I could use camera, but then I don't have the option to edit the image and obscure transaction info etc.
ETA: I *know* why they're doing it, but now have to go and find someone with a scanner, edit the images, then double check that they're not stored anywhere.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

B***ggr! What an absolute pain ... to use your camera, can you blu tak a tiny piece of paper to your relevant account details? They just want to delay things, don't they
On your earlier post, about the table and chairs, I meant to say - you posted a link to an Ikea table at some stage, a tiny little one with little extension leaves either end - thats the table I got for my new kitchen! Its lovely. And because its small, it makes me keep it clear (ish) - any rubbish at all takes it over completely, its quite funny really.
I'm glad your mum's financial affairs have been completed. It *does* sound a bit bizarre, to have coffee and mince pies actually *in* the cemetery, but then personal memorials do tend to sound bizarre to outsiders. It felt right to you, thats the main thing.
You do sound very sorted for Christmas, you know, but maybe you don't feel it yet!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
It is from IKEA but can't remember which one I originally wanted. Because DS is 6ft we did a fair bit of sitting at them all to see how comfortable they were. we didn't get the chairs that go with it, got some different ones that are more comfortable. DS said that about the table too! I put something down on it and he shouted at me; it's not a dumping ground!! So we can just open up the leaves as we need them.
I don't *feel* very organised. Can't really motivate myself for Christmas. Normally sister and I meet up and have a morning when we get the last few bits, and lots of coffee, and neither of us can remember whether we met up last year. And we're running out of weekends.
I'm in the same hotel for a few nights next week, so am packing some card stuff.
