  • Well it's been a while since I posted, I've had a horrible stomach bug for the past 4 days so I haven't felt like doing anything. Good news is that I haven't spent any money, the bad news is the house is chaos and I haven't got my sisters prezzie! Will have to stop at Asd@ and pick it up tonight.

    To Do List

    - steam clean bedroom carpet
    - finish driveway
    - sister prezzie, anniversary, ds bday one bday done out of the prezzie cupboard and I already had cards tucked away
    - Mothers day, sort prezzies/cards

    New List
    - 3 NSD's 1/3
    - bil bday

  • I realised it was time I started to get organised for ds bday party, venue and entertainment already booked and then wham an invite for a party on the same day!!! Thankfully ours is in the morning this is the afternoon and the other mum is ok and realises and that im not trying to steal her sons thunder. Their bdays are 2 days apart so this is going to happen every year she mentioned joint parties which might be a good option next year. So I've printed off invites (free!) and contacted my ex bosses wife about a cake, we get mates rates, dh has organised cupcakes for the party bags and he is organising the decorations/party bags so I think we are on with it now.

  • Woohoo I passed my exam, really pleased as it was an area totally out of my comfort zone and ds has gone up a level in his reading books, super pleased with this after all the issues we had at his old school. My mum also had a chat with me about the house deposit and has offered to lend us a good chunk to help us move sooner, which is fantastic! So that's 3 good news items.

Now for the bad news, dh was encouraged to go for a secondment job, despite only just getting a new role. It's in his preferred department but unfortunately he didn't get an interview. This is the second application for a role in this department and the second time he hasn't got an interview so he has asked for feedback especially considering he was advised by someone at managerial level to go for it in the first place!!

  • Fantastic parents evening, he is on track with the rest of his class for maths, so no sign of any problems like his old school thought. He is up to the level he should have been at, at the start of year 1, with his phonics and his teacher thinks he will be around about where he should be at the end of the year, providing he keeps progressing as well as he has been. All in all very positive and no signs of any underlying issues, so, so we glad I changed his school I feel like doing a big rude gesture towards his old school for implying he had problems when it was their issue with their teaching obviously!!

Well it was a weekend of jobs for me. Saturday was swimming in the morning followed by wallpaper shopping for the bedroom in the afternoon. Sunday I spring cleaned the kitchen, steamed cleaned the radiators, skirting boards, cleaned out the fridge and cupboards, the windows, pulled out and cleaned behind all the appliances and then.....my hoover broke. It's been on the blink for a while and it finally gave up, obviously at the most convenient point when you are in the middle of everything grrrr . dh kindly went to @rgos and i'm now the proud owner of a d1rt devil, only £60 so quite a bargain. In the meantime I stuck a stew on for tea and tidied up, then with my new hoover finished hovering the house and then steam mopped. So I have a sparkly house, I just need to do the beds and the window in our bedroom.

Next weekend I'd like to have a go at the outside, depending on the weather, the windows in the back need doing and the driveway could do with a clean. I need to start thinking about seeding the lawn where it flooded (blocked drain) and the grass died and hopefully order the wallpaper if my samples come this week.
