  • Pay day today!! I have just moved all the money around and set up my payments, the budget sheet has been updated so I'm all set for the month now.

DH is off work today but has a night shift tonight and for the next 4 nights so we are going to treat ourselves to a Italian take away. I need to book us in for haircuts and start thinking about where ds will go at half term. Debt busting is all on course for a dfd June 2016, which is amazing, to think we are almost there and that in that time we will have saved up and paid for a holiday as well. It's been a long time coming but we are nearly there, then it's time for exciting things like house moves and maybe another little sugarcube!!

    To Do List

    - get hubby to ring up and close credit card as it has a balance of +£104 which I want back!! will dig everything out tonight and pin him down to do it
    - steam clean bedroom carpet
    - finish driveway
    - sort out refund for Christmas order that was messed up done
    - sort hubbys self assessment

    New To Do List
    - book haircuts
    - half term childcare

  • Well we had a lovely weekend, ds went to his aunties and they took him and his cousin to the panto, so we took the child free opportunity to go out for lunch and use the tesc0 vouchers. We had a lovely meal and a wander round the shops, returned some shoes and didn't buy anything so all in all a lovely (and thifty) day.

Pay day from job nr 1 for dh on Thursday and job nr 2 a week on Friday, should be a decent amount form job nr 2 as he has done a shed load of extra shifts.

  • Argh my boots have broken, my everyday comfy flat boots and the sole has come off and ripped the lining so not repairable. The other boots I've got are either suede or with heels, so useless for doing the school run everyday. Looks like i'll have to go shopping at the weekend :-(

  • DH has been paid from both jobs, bumper pay which makes up for the fact that I've hardly seen him lately :-( we have agreed to just take the normal amount which leaves me some to put in the savings and leaves him some to build up his savings as well (for anniversaries/b'days/valentines/xmas etc)

  • Nothing to report so far, it's been a very quiet week all the banks are behaving. Unfortunately I haven't had a NSD yet and don't think i'll get to 3 this week but never mind. This weekend is going to be a quiet one and the house is going to have a proper clean and sort, going to try and get hubby to finish off the lounge the switches/sockets need changing and pictures need going up.

  • Got the house insurance renewal though yesterday, so that's now on my to do list, I might not get it much cheaper but I might be able to get a bit of cashback.

I have started to a bit of research on mortgages and it looks like a 10% deposit is needed, which is what we were looking at saving and I'm thinking 12 months to save is achievable. I'm writing off this year as paying off debts, finishing house and then fingers crossed moving into rented, so our money will be diverted to that this year rather than saving. So next year is the year to save up....off to start looking at savings accounts, I like to be prepared!! ;-)

Renting is definitely the way forward I heard through the grapevine that a interesting house was coming to the market so I rang up the estate agents and the pictures haven't been taken, it isn't on the website and they have already got 6 lots of people booked in to look at it over the next 2 days....before it even goes on the market!!! How would we compete if we still had our house to sell??

  • Had a productive weekend, well dh did, he re tiled the bathroom floor. Some of the tiles had come loose/cracked and the timber sheet underneath was soaked because the grout has been coming out. We found some reduced in B&Q only £10/m2 and we only needed 2m2 so all in all about £100 but £32 of that was for a new electric tile cutter, which we will need when we do the kitchen.
Meanwhile I had a tidy up outside and washed the path outside the back door which was v.muddy and tried to keep on top of the chaos in the house, oh and I did a food shop and picked up dog food and ferried ds to swimming...so id didn't do too badly!

Just sorted out the house insurance it was cheaper than last year never mind cheaper than the renewal and even though it isn't budgeted for I paid upfront, I will move some stuff around to make it balance and even better £84 cashback!!

  • Not much to report today the old home insurance has been cancelled and new policy is in place. I've updated the budget to take out the monthly payment for the old policy and add in the up front payment for the new policy. By adding the money that we are getting back from the credit card everything balances nicely.
