  • Not a bad week, £84 cashback for the house insurance and last night I swapped gas and elec and got £30 cashback and saved £21/month. Woo!! It actually ending up being a NSD yesterday for me as I made dh buy his own cream for his kedgeree!!

DH has an interview tomorrow for a new job within his current company, they have asked for him to apply for it, he has already turned them down once as he didn't want to work in that area but he is thinking it might boost his CV, broaden his skill base and if they want me so much then its a good opportunity for a pay rise :-)

The house that I mentioned having viewing booked before it even marketed has sold, viewed Fri/sat, sold sign up on Monday. The market is moving very quickly in the area we want to move to....we might have to take a leaf out of Phil and Kirsty's book and work out what we are prepared to compromise on.

  • He got the job, so, so proud of him :-) no ideas about the money side of things yet, they are still discussing salary bandings and will only confirm when they have made a decision on all of the candidates.

    Pay day tomorrow!

We spent the weekend looking at houses, new builds, to see if they might be an option when we are in a position to move. I was pleasantly surprised (I hate new houses) but one development was nice, not too crammed in, a bit of character and had a lovely kitchen/diner with space for a couch, a downstairs toilet (!! I know its sad i'm so excited about a toilet!!) and ......a utility room!! but realistically after a second look I don't think they are for us, we could buy something cheaper and use the spare (deposit) cash to extend and make it how we want it. So really we are looking with a house with extension potential.

I've been doing a bit of an update and number crunching exercise on my SOA doing various different scenarios and it's looking positive for the mortgage that we want once we have saved for 12 months for a deposit, so that's positive, although we don't really want to take the maximum amount it's nice to know its there.

I also realised that I pay off a card each month in April, May and then June, so its only this month and next that I don't pay something off in full. Our dfd is feeling close now :-)

Just found out hubby got a £50 managers award which is on a type of visa rewards card so can be spent anywhere, think that might be a nice anniversary dinner!! ;-)

  • DH first day in his new job today, fingers crossed it goes well.

The weekend was a quiet one, big shop done plus I managed to have a big clean, just the kitchen left to do, I decided to make soup rather than clean the kitchen so at least my lunches are sorted for this week.

  • Have been having a nosy on the mortgage board doing a bit of homework, I can see it being my second home after the df board to prepare us for moving. I've run a few different scenarios through the nwide affordability calculator which is supposed to be the most detailed and accurate and it still seems positive on the borrowing amount, and dh is only going to go up over the next couple of years.

I have also been tweaking my yearly budget, as our df date is rapidly approaching and we are still (touch wood) on target I am now looking towards how much we can have saved (!) by the end of the year and then how long it will take for us to save a decent deposit amount. Overall i'm feeling unbelievably positive at the moment :-)
