The thing is, I have worked in a financial institution that had a big backlog in the past, and it is not possible to give any sort of accurate timescale, so I understand their non commital responses.

If they told you categorically that it would be x date, then they are setting themselves up for a fall.

My complaint actually has 9 parts and could therefore take someone that is working 10 hour days, 3 or 4 whole days to do the calculations, whereas someone with one account could be calculated in a matter of hours.

Apparently, there is one big pile of cases and as one person finishes one, they take the next off the top and tough if it is a big case.

They are also working weekends and massive amounts of overtime to get this sorted.

I have set myself an acceptable date for payment, which is the 30th September. If it is before, great. If not I will call them and shout a bit.

I can't help but think that we are part of the problem, ringing so often.

Afterall, if they didn't have to have so many people answering calls from us, they could have more staff dealing with calculations and payments.

Flipping heck, I think I just stuck up for the banks :rotfl:

    Hi IANC,

I do understand your feelings on this, matter and will ignore the fact you just stuck up for the banks :rotfl: But if you look at the bigger picture these organisations willingly and fraudulently put together these PPI sales in order to remove money from our pockets knowing fully that we could ever claim on these policies.

Both the FOS and the FSA seem, currently, to be ineffective in correcting this issue and as a long standing banker (as most people are) I find this unacceptable. It is about time an organisation that has both credibility and the B*lls to get involved takes a stand and pays the right amount of attention to get the issue of outstanding payment corrected as I feel that all of us owed money are simply being given the run around.

The banking industry used to be an organisation that could be looked up too I feel that this is no longer the case..unfortunately...

I keep checking the current balance of my loan online, as the one I'm claiming on is still running. I'm hoping that once they've finished their calculations, the balance will suddenly be lower, and I will know to expect a letter...

I agree with what you are saying, however we are talking about 100,000s of people complaining at once, maybe 1,000,000s.

It is all well and good us lot saying we want our money now, but to be honest I would rather the calculations are done accurately and it take a bit longer than for them to have to plough through calculations and risk mistakes. Mistakes that will probably go unnoticed by the masses and ultimately cost us some of the money that we are owed.

I've waited 20 weeks so far, another 2 won't kill me. Well it might as I am the most impatient person alive. :rotfl:

That was my reason for starting it maryspecial, once one person receives a payout, as long as they give us the date of receipt of the acceptance, it will give everyone a rough idea of the timescales for their payments to be received.

Halifax received my acceptance on the 26th August, so including that day and today, I am on day 27.

I am hopeful that within 1 week I will have the figures and I will have received the payout.

Great thread - been following with interest to see when someone finally gets a reply out of Halifax!

My details from the beginning as below:

23rd March 2011 - Sent original PPI claim form to Halifax
    17th May 2011 - Received acknowledgement reply
24th June 2011 - Received update letter saying they had 16 weeks
3rd August 2011 - I called to chase up and was told I had to contact them in writing??
3rd August 2011 - Sent letter chasing up
24th August 2011 - Received upheld letter and acceptance form to sign
27th August 2011 - Posted back signed acceptance form
13th September 2011 - Emailed CEO to check they had received my form
13th September 2011 - Received letter replying to my email saying form had been received (don't know what date) and that they would be in contact in "due course"
16th September 2011 - Emailed CEO to request timescale meant by "due course"
19th September 2011 - Received letter replying to my email saying "Unfortunately I am unable to provide you with any specific timescales, however we are dealing with this as quickly as possible and will be in contact in due course"

Am guessing by reading a few threads that if they do have about 8 weeks to reply from receiving the form I am looking at around the end of October. Here's hoping....
