  • Currently using iPhone 3 gs and will continue to use past iPhone 5 and 6 and 7and then will buy iPhone 5 in about 3 or 4 years time cash apple will cater to my needs not the other way round. Don't forget if you want to pay up to 50 quid a month for 2 years on a phone when your rent and fuel bills are rocketing and at some point your mortgage then you are either single. rich. Or a gulible fool

just seen samsung galaxy ace 2 they are reduced from 300 to 150 looks like an iPhone 4 and looks and feels fantastic on google android people need choice and value and this is the new price
  • *The IPhone has lots of Imitators but they can't replicate the App Store unless you can have full App Functionality across all Smartphone Platforms* Therefore it is good if apps are Cross-Platform so if you fancy a Blackberry....

I killed my iphone 3 at the weekend and have had to use the wifes Motorola Blur. I hope the iphone 5 comes out some time soon as the Motorola is useless. The iphone is just so intuitive.

I keep seeing this word "intuitive" being banded around by Iphone owners, surely a word they would never have thought of using in everyday life until some journo or marketing guru placed it in their subconcious.

Intuitive ... in other words "simple"! ;)

The only thing you mention that hints at why you have your preference is the intuitiveness of iOS. Problem is there are more intuitive handsets out there that are cheaper as well.

That of course, is just your opinion. There's no point trying to state this as fact.
What I find time and again with iPhone users is that they wrongly believe it's the best phone out there. These people are frequently led by media frenzy and the Apple distortion field.

iPhone users probably do think the iPhone is the best phone, else they wouldn't have bought it. What makes you think you are the authority on deciding what phone is best?
Like you, people are free to make whatever choice they like but I think people should make their decisions on the basis of fact and not fanfare and frenzy.

People should buy the best device for them. If that's the device that has the most fanfare and frenzy, again, who are you to say that that isn't the best device for that person?
A website that usually cuts through the marketing hype and seeks to inform people of the real issues should know better.

I'll ask you this question. Is it better to let potential iPhone customers know that a new device is coming out soon and that they would likely get more for their money if they waited a bit, or not let them know and have them buy the current device only for it to be replaced in the next few weeks with a newer model?

I know which answer sits better with the MSE philosophy.

Fair enough if MSE also lets potential Samsung Galaxy S customers know that the S II is coming out soon, or lets potential HTC Sensation customers know that the new Sensation XE is coming out soon, and they will likely get a bit more for their money if they wait a bit. Otherwise it just smacks of providing free advertising to Apple, which shouldn't be the case in a supposedly independent consumer site.

  • The iphone is THE most sought after handset on the market, i think these threads just stop there being a stupid number of topics asking the same questions.

It's probably because informing a potential Android customer to hold off a purchase because the 'next best thing' is coming soon would mean they would never end up buying a device as they come so frequently. There's also less predictability as far as when a new device may be released. Do you tell said customers to wait for the SGS3, and then when that's released continue to tell them to wait for the Sensation XE? Where does it end?
