MSE News: iPhone 5 release date rumour round-up

My only real issue with the article is that it has the Daily Mail listed as a trusted source. :rotfl:
As for the iPhone5 or whatever it'll be called I'm not fussed either way, I'm locked into a 24 month contract on my iPhone4 until about July anyway, at which point I'll probably elect to keep it, but move it to another network on a less restrictive contract which costs significantly less.
I might treat myself to the iPhone5, I might not, I suspect the effort has gone into iOS 5 and it's not clear how much of an advance the handset might be, or how many iOS 5 features will locked out on earlier models. In any case I'll chose to fund it by saving for it and part funding it by selling my current model. I don't want to buy it via contract again.
Yes, I like the Apple iOS products I have so blast mebut then it's my choice thanks. I'm sure they are alternatives on the market, many are probably better value for money, have more features and are made by a company less arrogant than Apple. However I like the intuitiveness of iOS.
I don't strictly need any Apple device, to be brutally honest I don't need any multimedia device at all, however I tend to save up for the ones I do choose to treat myself to.:www: Progress Report :www:

If people want a fashionable phone then they can go ahead and pay the extra for it
Fashion is something I'll never understand. I never get or do something because it's "fashionable", I'll never understand why someone feels they have to copy a look/style/etc of some celebrity who's clearly full of themselves. I just don't give a rats !!!!.
I'm not someone who shops via labels or brands.
No ladies and gents, what I choose to do or get has nothing to do with fashion or popularity at all it simply comes down to my tastes, nothing else.:www: Progress Report :www:

Jim - if it's not a fashion decision then I struggle to understand why you'd pay the Apple premium.
The only thing you mention that hints at why you have your preference is the intuitiveness of iOS. Problem is there are more intuitive handsets out there that are cheaper as well.
What I find time and again with iPhone users is that they wrongly believe it's the best phone out there. These people are frequently led by media frenzy and the Apple distortion field.
Like you, people are free to make whatever choice they like but I think people should make their decisions on the basis of fact and not fanfare and frenzy. That's why I have an objection to the way MSE covers the iPhone.
A website that usually cuts through the marketing hype and seeks to inform people of the real issues should know better.0 -

i on the other hand would fall into the fool category ,i stand to be corrected but with 3 you cannot drop the contract so if its 35.00 pound a month then its 35.00 a month regardless and if you cannot pay then legal action debt collectors credit rateing affected all it takes is a change in circumstance is that really worth it every 2 years just to have the latest
i am happy with 3 gs videos i can convert to 720 p and there great wifi 3 g etc great and paid for i will enjoy the better than 3gs technology a couple of years down the line
Naturally, you should give very careful thought to any monthly commitment - and if you're not comfortable you could cope in the event of a change of circumstances, it's best not to go ahead.
I was just pointing out that paying a few hundred pounds every couple of years to get a phone that is two years out of date (and receiving only a small amount for your current phone...now, presumably, four years out of date) then paying for credit in a relatively inefficient way each month, is probably only marginally, if at all, cheaper than just paying a normal contract and having an up to date phone - so it's not really fair to brand those of us that are able to commit to a fixed monthly payment as "rich" or "fools".If people want a fashionable phone then they can go ahead and pay the extra for it but the simple fact is there are better phones out there than the iPhone and they are better value.
I agree that it's poor form for a site like this to be seen as promoting, or giving disproportionate coverage of, a given brand - but that said, it's also poor form to present your opinion as fact.
I don't care a jot about fashion or brands, but I have yet to find another phone that is as nice to use as the iPhone 4. Which is why I have one.0 -
Chatting to a sales man in Vodaphone he was suggesting an 8gb iPhone 4 could be on the cards as well c. £30 pm likely cost0

always find it funny when ppl talk about the new iOS5. They are pretty much putting function that's been available to other platforms for years and say they are launching a new system.... everyone (apple fans) gets excited..... I have heard of someone talking about how great it is that ios5 have notifications.... when android have had this for ages that they didn't know because its not from apple....0

The thread title declares it is news about rumours, and the some of the sources quoted have changed their minds more than once.0

it wouldnt surprise me if there was no new iphone until june/july next year as the iphone4 is still the biggest selling handset around.0

It's definitely not fashion, by definition I am one very unfashionable person, I wear cheap unbranded clothes, usually years out of style, my music/film collection fits on one small shelf, I know next to nothing about popular culture.
Believe me, I didn't get myself a generic apple device because Steve Jobs told me to, I didn't join insanely long queues of frenzied people desperate to throw money at any shopkeeper wearing an apple shirt (if there is such a thing).
I simply got it because I liked it, it really is that simple, sometimes people try to over complicate things.
Furthermore I didn't say Apple was the best, nor the most functional, I'll let others decide for themselves, I like my apples, you might prefer android or blackberry or nothing at all, that's cool and I don't see why it should be an issue.
I also don't see a problem with MSE publishing an article on iPhone rumours, it's not like they're telling you to go out to get one, I'm sure you're more than capable of making your own choice!:www: Progress Report :www:
