Is this related to saving money in any way?
IMHO it's wrong for MSE to take part in this hysteria.

    Debt-free and Proud!
It's news about a mobile phone in the mobile phone section. I don't see an issue. I for one, am interested.

If you don't want to be caught up in the "hysteria" (lol), then don't read it.

  • There are different financial styles : Spendthrifts and Meanies.
I classify myself in the Spendthrift Category as I believe shock horror Life is for living.
The Iphone 3GS I own represents fantastic value for money as it makes my device multi-functional and I can download Professional apps like the Journalists Hinderberg app, Professional Office suites and Professional PDF readers so I can annotate pdfs on the run. I can use above for the most mundane of purposes,
The Iphone like the Blackberry it's famous counterpart (common smartphone of choice) can be used for mobile office and business. I don't see a problem with the above and fail to see how it cannot contribute to the contribution of much MSE Virtue.

Much as I love iPhones, I just don't get this secrecy thing Apple insist on.

My Mrs needed another phone quite urgently last week...So she's ordered an iPhone 4.

If we knew for sure that iPhone 5 would be available 19 September, we'd probably have held on for that. (and paid a whole bunch more for the thing, no doubt). As it's a great unknown, we didn't want to take the chance of her being stuck with a dodgy old phone for months. To say nothing of the fact there might not be many upgrades worth having anyway...This lack of release dates and information seems quite inconvenient more than anything else, not particularly exciting.

Are you desperate for some new moneysaving or professional apps that don't work on 4, but will work on 5 exclusively?
  • @grumbler I would only buy professional apps that worked on my Iphone 3GS until I am able to upgrade one day. When one of my Family decides to upgrade, I get the benefits. So not an issue.

    I agree.
I would not suggest folks get lower than an Iphone 3GS cos you can do more on it. I have no ideas what wonders Iphone 5 or whatever has but I hope it justifies the upgrade.
I don't condone the secretive money grabbing behaviour of Apple just cos I am a fan of the Iphone. No hardcore nut would.
