 Did I take the wrong exit tonight & wander into a parallel universe?
Job Centre app?
Isn't the app you use to find a job called "A Job Centre"?
Huge great big brick thing, runs on any platform & tends to have the front-end/interface updated at least every 4 years?0 -

On JSA and waiting for the brand spanking new iPhone?!?0 -
The software will include a notification centre to compile texts, emails and calendar reminders; iMessage, which is a messaging system for iPhone users; and the ability to start the camera from the lock screen.
BlackBerry OS has had all of these for quite some time (indeed, the first is one of the main reasons I love my BlackBerry so much. And, if you're an actual money saver, BlackBerries tend to be the cheapest smartphones going (available for £160 PAYG or free on a £13.50 contract, compared to some £400 PLUS a £25 contract for the iPhone). Plus they tend to be very sturdy for the price, and very reliable.
I rather agree that iPhone news is very much outside of the remit for MSE. They are overpriced, and nowhere near essentials.urs sinserly,

At the risk of becoming unpopular and needing to fight for my pending MSE status, subject to enrolling on various Challenges and getting good at them, moreover to get the gargantuan levels of support that one needs to embark on new Financial habits I would defend my right as a low fixed income person to own an Iphone, and If I was cursed to be on JSA then download the app so I could search for jobs so as to fulfil my job seeking requirement.
If that sounds strange to you mores the pity but that sounds good to me. Perhaps we can see Workfare Apps, as well !!! Disability apps!!
I think the apps world creates all manner of possibilities even though the upfront cost of buying a phone outright is dreadfully expensive, and or dreaded 24 month contracts and or poor deals that make it more of a utility than needing to lug ones beloved Laptop around (second sin Laptop and Pc owner as well!!).#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

@JuicyJesus no more than your frightfully expensive beautiful Blackbery she says eyeing a 3G Curve. I think all Iphone owners should have a Blackberry as Phone 2 and a junk phone for advertisers, competiton etc.
*thanks rate suddenly plummets* but Madamoiselle is a fighter and has great qaulity models to immitate MSE style.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Honestly, I think you're missing the point of a joke & how they work -
There are perfectly decent posters on here who'll do you the service of analysing your income, expenditure & financial priorities & pare them down so harsh you'd think you've had an acid-bath, but you know what?
It's fine, it's all in the spirit of improving your life in the long-term, like horrible-painful surgery.
Trust me, I'm not so public spirited & I don't try & convince others to alter their spending habits (if any), I'm only on this board to gather new info on phones & to offer a bit of advice here & there too, strictly phone related. (and sometimes have a bit of a laugh, it never hurts)
Personally, I've been on JSA, and it's not fun (boo! downer).
My comment was dually-based, on the premises that;
a) It seems that the sheer expense of an iPhone *does* strike me as too much, if/when in the future I'm on £240 p/month I won't be able to afford a whole load of things & if I !!!!!! up my OSF, I won't be able to replace it like for like, let alone with a vastly more expensive one - broken iPhones sell for more than brand new examples of my phone.
(and this is coming from someone who will before too long be in just such a position, I'm almost sure of it)
and,
b) The supposition that some day soon the Govt will actually accept you filling out a form on your iPhone to replace the physical act of going in fortnightly and keeping the written log of what jobs you've applied for, what employers you've phoned & how the call went, you know, that little booklet you need to fill in every day with your 3x or more "actions" to find find a job..
But all that took ages to type & was probably as boring for you to read as it was for me to type, so I shortened it all down into a single 3-line joke.
It was brevity, not horribleness.0
