..And now for Windows Phone 7 users 'Free Call Buster'. There is a free fully functionional no limits (but ad-supported) version as well as a 99p verion with no ads. Just go to the marketplace and search for Free Phone Buster0

If you have an android, just download "0800 Free minutes". Automatically intercepts and redirects the 0800 numbers through a regular landline so you don't pay the extra.0

If you're on Vodafone they charge an extra £5 per month for calls to 080x/0500/0870/0845 to come out from your inclusive mins, HOWEVER quite often they discount this to £2 or £3 a month and in some cases even add it free of charge! Sayyesto0870.com !0

I've been using TTNC for some time to call 0800 numbers from my mobile and they are fine. Call 01600 700800 then you get a dial tone to ring the 0800 number. If you've got free calls to landlines like I have it's great, otherwise it comes from your normal minutes.
There's an outfit called QXtelecom (http://www.qxcall.co.uk/) who enable you to call 0870 and 0845 using a 0203 access number from your mobile for between 1.5 and 4pm/minute charged to your account. It's a prepaid account but as it starts at only a fiver and it doesn't expire it seems good value. Haven't tried them though.
Hope this helps0 -
Lots of people offering that type of service lean & mean.
EG: 0845/0870 via geographical access number http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php
0800/0808/0500 via geographical access number etc

All new t mobile contracts taken out after feb1 include all 08 numbers as part of your allowance. Excluding the full monty plan0

From what I have read on their website, t-mobile now include calls to 0800, 0845, 0870 and similar numbers within their contract minutes (with the exclusion of the Full Monty package).
I was very tempted to switch but t-mobile provide the worst reception of all the main providers in my area.0
