If you click start and it isn't on the right hand side under help and support, you can use a command prompt.

If you go with the command prompt

Click start, all programmes, accessories, command prompt, copy and paste

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\dllfile

Then click OK

It is unlikely that the reports to Microsoft will get them to call round and fix it, you should be able to get free support from them if you use the e-mail option

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an an association in the Set Associations control panel.

If you have other printers you can use, I would wait for Lexmark and Microsoft support in case you end up replacing the printer and get the same problem installing it

Or at least try to install another printer if you already have one, to check it does install and run correctly

There,s no saying they will, micro didn,t say they would I just typed the error in .their box for help.
What about the advice about set association control panel where/or whatever that is? Yes, might get film.
I notice when I google 1066, there seems plenty of fixes available. always dubious of fixes online. What do you think?I don,t have another printer or use of one to try.It seems the error 1066 is not only printers, theres 100s on google

Avoid the online fixes, they probably will find the error but in a way they can charge to correct it

Hi, as I say, the x1100 series is not one of the products they will chat about.
23456 are all there. so I presume as 1100 is 6 years old they won,t offer support.
It never rains but it pours.
Bit of a Dillema.Weird how it,s just cropped up. If i,ve installed my cd once without the error,i,ve done it dozens of times.
That must be the reason all 6 of them I downloaded from lexmark wouldn,t work.BUT, mine has ALWAYS put the drivers on, but not the interface.Lexmarks never installed the drivers, it always said Drivers not successfully installed. I thought it was funny when I tried to find my printer on network and theres none. There,s always been mine , but it,s gone. Ther was 2 others from where I don,t know.
I won,t use internet fixes, got enough problems now without them introducing more;:beer:

Hi santer, Just update, Lexmark sent E-mail with several fixes, and ways to turn spool on, non of which have worked.As spool is part of Windows, it would seem Lexmark cannot help any more.
Appreciate any more ideas to fix it , or ERROR 1066.
At a loss now as spool means I cannot instal a new printer till it,s fixed.

If it did, did you click start then run and type services.msc then look for print spooler in the new box that shows, it takes a while to show

Hi, I,ve just done that and haven,t got run anywhere on start menu. Wnen I type run in search, I get run box with search. Typed in services.msc
Nothing under that ERROR came up.
Are you on xp?

Right click the task bar, click task manager, click file, new task, type services.msc then click OK, in a while the services list will show, look for print spooler
