    for our own gain.......never !:D:T
anyway why are you reading this thread then?? potentially everyone who deliberately buys something knowing they may get DTD is doing this, if its something you wouldn't feel comfortable with move on to the next thread!

I'm reading this thread as I'm interested to see what makes this forum tick - it is after all a fascinating resource and I don't for one minute deny that it doesn't offer people a great chance to be able to save money, get more for it and help out those who are finding their financial lives difficult.

All I am merely saying is that would everyone here who has bought this toy tried to buy it if it didn't enable to them to £45 odd pound of 'cashback' if you will. No I doubt they would. So if person A is merely buying it to get back said 'cashback' then they are exploiting a scheme which is run by a company on a goodwill basis, and if it is continuing exploited then eventually it'll get pulled. People can't help but be greedy at times, it's human nature, I just think in this case people are deliberately overcharging themselves for their own gain which isn't in the spirit of the DTD offer.

(And no, I don't work for Tesco. I did work for Sainsburys when I was at school in the admin dept and over the course of a month we had to go round and scan all the SELs to make sure they were still the right price and change those that weren't. The amount I used to pick up on was no one's business, so I agree it shouldn't be too hard for Tesco to solve!)

Tesco offer DTD as it saves them in Trading Standards investigations and fines.
As for buying 8 of one item and brazenly claiming DTD is wrong.
I base wrong on the fact that it highlights the problem with DTD, it does risk multiple claims and shows that the info on here can be utilised in a grossly inappropriate manner. Someone being so upfront could have been coerced to go into Tesco to do the leg work, it could even have been an organised criminal act. Taking xenophobia out the equation the person in front sounds to have been unlikely to have read and understood the deals on here. If MSE was in French I would be Stuffed lol.

My rule for DTD is only do it for things I will use, make it as part of a shop to make it cheaper. My local store had 10+ on the shelf and the 3.97 price, for 3 days in a row, I'd checked :) . I took none, I have no kids, nephews or a practical use for them.
A friend was going there anyway shopping so I let them know and they got 4. Double standards no, as I know how hard she works, it won't be used for illicit purposes and it was a kind guesture to share.

I maybe slated for condeming and condoning but I believe in sharing deals, not hoovering and preserving the status quo.
For the record I have a Cordless phone and pressure washer, free from last year..that's it.

so it's ok for your friend because she is hard working but not for this other person who bought (possible for other family members as well?) whom you know nothing about.....

i'm bowing out of this pointless discussion sorry:(

Sorry you missed my point. There may have been a different reason for her going for DTD.
However doing DTD in moderation is the aim of the game, not an out right aim for the most.
I don't agree with full DTD but I do side with it being there to have some fun with. Think of me living in the grey world that is the middle.
My posts may not be the most eloquent and full of waffle but I always see both sides, except where some one is out right abusive.

charging even £3 for that little bit of plastic is p--s taking. claiming they are worth 24 is a bigger joke. now imagine a harrished mum getting conned by tesco who is at fault. they could have either pulled or sorted the error out in minutes if not hours. instead they stick £24 labels on the shelf.
  • Anyone else reported this glitch is still working?

If you can find a store that has not been "hit" already, yes it should still work.
  • Been looking for this in sheff**ld all week with no luck . popped in for something else tonight ,just had a quick look on the off chance ........ a full shelf of the blighters !!! I was so excited when they priced checked at £24 whatever but DAMN .................. no SEL at all !! GUTTED !
They all seemt to have had a extra barcode stuck over original , is this what others have been finding ?

Yep, tis this barcode that is causing the issue. The barcode stuck over is the same as the barcode for the Battler pack which should be £25, hence the error.
  • i rushed out after reading this earlier and headed to the 2 tesco's along the A14. the first store had lots of these figures available but had taken off the sel, the other store in martlesham had them displayed as £24.97 grrrr that i missed this one but i could console myself with the free jelly i picked up.
    thanks op
