Whats this talk about cleaning ovens?! Mine is self cleaning so assume I don't have to do it :rotfl:

Took the kids out for a walk, they stayed the night at my parents and it was meltdown central when it came to coming back. DS wants to go back on holiday (don't we all) and he doesn't want to go back to school. He's been stressy since we came back, low grade level but still stressy all the same. Anyway I thought a nice walk would do them doo. Really enjoyed it myself so a bit more exercise to add to the dancing I did this morning :D

    Flutterby - that's not good news :(

  • Hi all.

Just had some awful news. My sister's oldest friend, whom we have known for about 30 years, called her to say her husband has terminal cancer. Wehave known he is ill for around four months, he has.been getting quite intensive chemo, and different to BILs because its a different cancer. They seemed quite hopeful they might be able to help, and he was due an op on Thursday to removesome of the tumourous tissue. They opened him up, and immediately closed him again and cancelled the op. They havenT asked yet how it will all go, and we should hear on Monday what their, plans are for him. Poor souls, she is a year younger than me, and he is 41. They have two children, too. There is far too much of this around just now, and its far too close to my poor sister, I think it has scared the living daylights out of her, she was awfully distressed telling me.

I am off to light a candle.for them, and Bramble's grandad and redruby's wee dad, and all our other friends and loved ones in pain or sick just now, including our OS friends battling illness right now. xxx

  • Hi all, hope you don't mind me popping in - I am now on maternity leave and think that a daily thread like this might just keep me focussed!

Nothing done as yet today - I had a big blitz of the flat yesterday so everything is all up straight and it's going to be a matter of daily maintenance more than anything.

Just about to drink yet another raspberry leaf tea, only started on them last Tuesday and already I am fed up lol

I need to do the ironing soon, but there's a black wash to go in still and I'm wondering whether to do what's already there and another ironing session in the week (Lord knows I'll have the time to!) or whether to be lazy and wait and do it all in one go? Neither option fills me with joy, ironing is my least favourite chore!

Dinner for tonight is sorted - I am having cauliflower cheese, hubby is having sausage, chips and cauliflower cheese (he's never had CC before and doesn't seem to think he will like it so I am hoping that by putting a taster portion on his plate he will at the very least try it)

May even have a long soak in the bath before hubby gets home from work and try and get started on a new book too.
  • Sorry to hear that JackieG .....how horrendous for them at that age and what a bombshell for your sister:o, her mind must be racing now bless her:(
Bramble hope your grandad is ok lovey x

CG congrats to you:j.....how dare the BF moan at being sleep deprived:eek: he knows nowt yet lol..is he going to stick around?
BB we rent privately too as no hope of buying at moment....prices just ridiculous
Bitsy I have a copy of The Takeaway Secret you can have if you want me to send it:cool:......not my kind of thing really and have not used it:rotfl:

DS at his dads today so have been defrosting and cleaning the fridgefreezer as it was desperate:o and oven shelves going in bags i n the bath later lol
Have just been sorting money things out etc as not able to do it when mr flappy is talking at me about Escape to the country and his dreams of a cattery etc:rotfl:
I think DH and I deserve a takeaway later....the oven will be dismantled so cant cook;)
Am dreading Tues as DS already very stressed about school starting again and had several massive meltdowns yesterday about it all bless him. At least I have left work so I dont have to rush there and will be able to stay as long as he needs and get him settled:T
There have been a lot of people having a rough time on here the last couple of weeks and it is lovely how everyone here rallies round to help and support each other. We are very lucky to have this support system these days....imagine how isolating it must have been for some people in the past with no online friends:A
