Good morning all and huge hugs to those going through tough times
I have a busy weekend ahead. DD1's dance classes start again after the summer six week break, and then she has a birthday party to go to almost immediately afterwards. I think I'll go and do the weekly shop at Mr T's while she's at the party.
Tomorrow we are off to a Polo tournament...! I have no idea what to expect from it, but a company that we deal with at work offered me and a few colleagues a free family ticket. We have to take a picnic lunch but they will provide afternoon tea and cake, so it's a cheap(ish) day out in spite of the petrol to get there.
On the OS front - I have to find some time to get in the garden and plant all those bulbs I bought yesterday, and I also need to make some sort of traybake for the coming week's school packed lunches. I can't believe the holidays are almost over, they've gone so quickly.
FIL called in yesterday with two humungous bags of apples from their tree, and another bag of plums which are VERY squashy and ought to be made into jam asap. He also brought me a carrier full of tomatoes (mine are still green - just shows what a difference a greenhouse makes) and two squash.
I think the squash will keep pretty well but I will make some basic pasta-type sauce with most of the tomatoes, and freeze it. I hope the apples will keep for a bit as they are eaters rather than cookers (but I'll cook them if they start to look iffy).
Dinner tonight will have to be "freezer surprise" because I need to clear some space in there for the fruit and veg mountain.
So a busy weekend chez Evie!
Have good days all
Evie

Hugs to Bramble, Butterfly and Lou and congrats to Candy on the new arrival - he's a good size!
OS : I've fed & watered the chickens and had a quick poke round the veg patch to see what we need to be eating up. The squashes look like they're doing well.
Dinner will be jacket potatoes and salad.
I'm off to pick up a juicer (which has taken ages to save for) but I'm waiting on my son getting out of bed because I need him to get his staff discount
. I've waited so long to get this and now I feel that I can't bear to wait a moment longer - so shall poke him out of bed NOW :rotfl:

Morning all
((((((bramble))))))Dexter David arrived last night after a 2 hour labour!!He weighs 9lbs 1oz:eek::eek::eek:
CG - Woohoo! Welcome to the world Dexter, lovely name , enjoy the Royal Wedding
Managed to sleep til just after 8am today, so had 10 hours kip, but still feel tired. Thought the B12 jabs were meant to perk me up?! <insert confused smiley>. Forgot to say that I tried a bit of seabass last night too, only a small bit but at least I tried it. Need to try the M&S fishcakes too this weekend.
Plans for the day....my old schoolfriend is popping over late morning as she has interview for place I work at so I've offered to help prep her a bit. And then late afternoon I'm off to town to meet up with the ganag I used to work with in my old job for a few drinks. My flatmate is coming too, and she is driving so I have a free lift home. I will probably be home in time for X Factor as I can't drink much these days.
OS wise - DW needs emptying, and I may put a load in WM.
Have a good day all

Bargainbird - that's what I'm afraid of - we're not posh at all and it shows! Just hoping/praying the DDs behave themselves...
