Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 3rd September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hello x
So sorry that I went AWOL last night and was not around to support you guys. I took a turn so was sleeping it off hence awake at silly o'clock:eek:
Bramble - be brave honey and really hope Granddad is making a good recovery. Hugs to you x
Lou - I understand a little of what you are struggling with. I practice Mindfulness at moments of stress and have found it the most useful tool in my box. I wont go into details here but if you need to talk, please PM me x Remember that you are not alone with all of this and concentrate on your fabulous little lad. Men are dreadful when they are in pain and hubby will still be in shock. Again give him a couple of days and he will start perking up x
Butterfly - I have two Guinea pigs and we lost two a few years ago. I sobbed my heart out at the vets and know what you feel right now. The good thing is he died in his sleep x
Candygirl - Any news yet? Good luck to you all. I know it's scary playing the waiting game x
It's a bit too early for OS at the moment. I am having my oven cleaned today which is a grim job so paying someone is good money in my opinion.

Will be back later xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Thank you guys, I've not told anyone else except OH so it's nice to have people to talk to.

I am home....we left my dads at 3:45, my sister is driving up to scotland with my mum. My dad is cutting his holiday short to come home, as my sister was cat sitting but is now gone to grandad (he lives too far to drop in each day) If feel terrible he's had to cut his holiday short, but it is what it is.

The last I heard was at about 11 last night, he's stable at the moment, just waiting to hear more, but don't think I will till mum's in Scotland.

Jackie Thank you x My gran is in Cumbernauld, and Grandads in Airdrie, So will be looking to get either the train or a flight into glasgow in the week, I will keep you in mind if you don't mind - don't want to put any pressure on my gran atm, Thank you x x x

CG Hope everything is going well, and Little one is on his way into the world. Hope you can still make an appearance at the wedding

    The plan for today,

stay at home, will clean and sort the house out as much as possible so that OH is okay if i'm gone for a while, Will make up some soup and easy bits for his lunches/dinners as after an 18 hr day he's not going to want to cook anything.

Pup pee'd on OH's pillows yesterday (not sure why, will investigate that today) can i put them in the wash machine? or should i just buy new ones? They're not particularly expensive ones, but if they can be saved it would be helpfull.

Sat in silence in the living right now, don't want to wake up OH as he's due up at about 6:30

    Morning all'
DGD2 had me up at 5.15 asking for egg on toast . Plans today, clean all sticky fingerprints off 3 sets of patio doors, tackle the ironing when DGD has her nap and then go to DD1's to finish painting doors I'll have to take DGD2 as DD2 wants a restful day. Somehow I don't think wet paint and DGD is gonna be compatable.
I made a steak, onion & mushroom plate pie last night so that's dinner sorted.
I need to post a parcel to my DNiece who is working in France, she posted on FB that she has 1 teabag left so I'm sending her a large box of PG. She can't get them out there. So, lots of mundain things to do.
BRAMBLE, BUTTERFLY & LOU (((((( hugs))))))
    CANDY, any news ? :)
    Have a good day all.

Morning Molly and Bramble + all who follow.
(((Hugs))) to folks with worries and sadness.
Hope you get news this morning which will ease your mind, Bramble.
Lou - another one here who is so pleased to see you posting. Big (((hugs))) to you. Hope you get the support that you deserve soon and that things improve for you.
I so understand the loss of a pet, Butterfly. It takes time to get used to it, not a case of getting 'over' it.
Rain on here this morning. Still in PJs but am going to throw on some clothes and walk the dogs. This is v early for them as they aren't usually interested for another couple of hours yet! Had another bad night with shoulder pain. On waiting list for physio but have a dr appt for a week on Tuesday and will ask for something for pain at night as it is tiring me out. It's at the front of my shoulder so a hot water bottle doesn't help as it is too much of a balancing act and I lie there all tense .
Plans for today include soup making and maybe a veggie curry too. I've been cleaning out the kitchen drawers one a day (no point in overdoing things :D) so will tackle another today. Also a load of whites to put in WM. Bed to change too but will get DH to help with that for my shoulder.
Off to have a wee look through some threads then on with the day.
Hope the sun is shining where you are folks.

    Morning everyone,

Hugs to Bramble, Butterfly and Lou.

Up early this morning as DD2 has her first netball tournament of the season today and tomorrow and has to be at the sports centre for 9am.
This netball seems to be getting quite serious and she is only 11 but she loves every minute of it.

Did a huge supermarket shop yesterday to get ready for work next week and I was shocked at how much food seems to risen in price over the last 6 weeks. There is going to have to be some belt tightening in the Moorhen nest.

Had some really good news yesterday. A friend of mine who has been trying for a baby for years has found out that she is pregnant. I was so pleased for her that I could have cried especially as I couldn't help thinking of JackieO's story about the little boy in town. This baby will be so wanted and she will make a wonderful mother.:D

    Tea tonight is HM curry.

    Have a good day everyone.:)

Good luck to DD2 Moorhen and congrats to your friend too, wonderful news.

WMF hope your Shoulder doesn't cause you too many issues today, and you get physio soon.

Just had a call from my gran, Grandad has had a good night and slept, last update from Nurse was 4:15 this morning, and gran will get a call as if there is any change, but nurse said it was good that he was sleeping. My mum and sister have made it up to Warwick, so are getting there.

OH is off to work now, made him boiled egg for breakfast, and we've decided on tandoori chicken, naan and pilau rice for dins, new recipe so will be interesting to see how it turns out, the photos in the magazine look good though.

WM is on cycle one of i think about 4 for the weeekend. Need to get some leeks and potatoes for tomorrows dinner, but shops aren't open around here quite yet!

Hi Bramble - you should be able to wash the pillows - as long as they're not made of feathers. Just be careful when drying. If you have a TD then put in there with a couple of tennis balls. Lots of hugs to you - hope you hear good news today (((( HUG ))))

Lou - Goodness you're really going through it. Hugs to you too (((( Hug ))))

BB - any pet is important - I noticed yesterday that the plant that I buried the ashes of my first Dog under hadn't come back to life this summer and was upset. (And thats just a plant!) Will have to dig the whole lot up and put it in a pot instead - then I'll still have my lovely Kuka with me.

Morning everyone - looks a bit overcast here, which is a shame as the wind is up so I want to put washing out. Today we're (OH & I) going to attack the garage to get things for the car boot sale - I need to get rid of loads. Decided last night that we're NOT going to try and move around the corner (house has one more room and a field!). Instead I'm going to smarten up the house and if OH gets the job (interview Wednesday) then we MIGHT look at moving to the Nottingham area. Saw a lovely house on Rightmove yesterday in a village called Bunny!!!!! LOVED the name of the village.

Today will be a good day for everyone - I will stick to my diet and Bramble and Lou will get good news. Hugs to all xxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
