By now the op may have had it fixed, and hopefully passed the mot.0

we took the car back today to clarify what they ment, it was that nut and bolt
we paid a garage on the same industrial estate a couple of quid to tighten the bolt, it was cheaper than driving home and doing ot ourselves, it now has a fresh m.o.t.:j
we now just have an advisory that the exhaust is held on with tie wraps, so we will sort that a.s.a.p., actually a bit shocked that it didn't fail on that0 -
Glad it's passed, but I'd get a second opinion.0

I guess the point being made is that not all ARB linkages are droplinks, though all droplinks are ARB linkages.
I've just always called them all droplinks, and it seems like I'm not the only one.
From the OP's final post, it sounds like the ARB linkages on this vehicle are an even simpler design, bolt, washer, ARB, bush, suspension arm, washer, nut, job done.
It does the job I guess.0 -

tightening that bolt should not have got a pass
wait till you get a big bloke sat in your car its going to bang like a banshea
mot tester needs a refresher course and backs up my point earlier this week that mechanics know more than testers0 -

A drop link and anti roll bar link are one and the same.
Neither has anything to do with what the OP was asking.

Why shouldn't it? If tightening the bolt means there is no excessive movement then it's a pass.
MOT testers also tend to be mechanics. So are you saying that once a mechanic gets his MOT papers, he loses the knowledge he once held as a mechanic?0 -

there should be a bush on top of the roll bar
do you not realise this?
anyone who works on cars for a living would know this its a common way of connecting a roll bar, the vehicle is of no consequence
i dont knock motmen but as i said on another thread mechanics know more than mot men usually and you usually find motmen dont do mechanics anymore so lose the hands on experiance
(im in the trade so be careful with smartypant answers just like lum and his douche which i find deeply disrespectful)0 -
I don't agree either, but with the hindsight that he has now passed the car as it is.....................
They'll be no give in that, so something will be wearing away at best.0 -

Looking at the replacement bush available, it looks like there is one there. It's just knackered. For the sake of a few quid, I'd have them both replaced.anyone who works on cars for a living would know this its a common way of connecting a roll bar, the vehicle is of no consequence
The vehicle is of consequence if your anti roll bar connects to a drop link and not straight to the bottom arm.i dont knock motmen but as i said on another thread mechanics know more than mot men usually and you usually find motmen dont do mechanics anymore so lose the hands on experiance

Some mechanics are worth their weight in gold. Some are worth their weight in concrete shoes and a trip to a deep river.0
