Funny I've never seen an ARB that has threads and a nut on it before.0

So not an ARB then :P0

Jaysus wept! Can we focus on the OP's problem rather than bickering?
OP - That drop link looks a bit 'metal on metal' for my liking, and it's obviously failed the MOT on it. I don't have specific knowledge of the Daihatsu, but it's similar to most other suspension designs: The drop link just connects the anti roll bar, which runs across the car to the suspension arms. Bushes are just rubber bungs that prevent metal on metal contact ,and allow some freedom of movement. Just tightening that nut up would be a bad idea.
Not to worry, 'drop links' are available on ebay0 -
Nope. This was just bickering between people trying to score points.
We're all talking about the same component in the car, and the answer is the same:
It needs replacing.
They're cheap.
it's a trivial job for any home mechanic.0 -

Nope. It was pointing out that what had been photographed was not and is not a drop link, regardless of whether we are all talking about the same component or not. Calling it a drop link when it is not a drop link is akin to calling the wheel a tow ball. They're completely different things. The OP wanted to know what to ask for. Telling her to go ask for drop links is going to result in her getting two lengths of metal with ball joints on either end. Neither of which will get her 4x4 through the MOT.
The only part that needs replacing is the bushes on the anti roll bar. Funnily enough, it was Lum who stated that fact in the second post of this thread.0 -
Depends on how many bushes are missing.
You're assuming a drop link has to have a joint at the top and bottom.
It can be a solid bolt, (look at the link by sb) with bushes at the top, solid spacer, bushes on the arb at the bottom.
Like the jag one

It looks like it's completely shot, and the drop link (bolt) is all that's left.
It may not even be the original bolt, just something someone put in at some stage to bodge it.0 -
what we really need is a picture of the other side0
